Her childhood wasn't filled with laughter or warmth; it was a series of drills and protocols designed to turn her into a living extension of the stone. Her only memory of true connection was the day she surpassed her mother in the Trial of Efficiency, a victory that earned her a title but lost her a family. Her mother left to live a mortal life, leaving Aethel alone in a temple where the air is too cold to breathe and the silence is loud enough to scream.

For three hundred years, Aethel has been the perfect machine. She doesn't feel loneliness, she registers "spatial irregularities." She doesn't feel love, she tracks "biological data." She has spent centuries suppressing the "Stray Echoes". The jagged, phantom memories of what it felt like to be a living, breathing creature before the relic muted her soul.

But the ice is starting to crack.

She found the Omega in the snow. A "Critical Asset" her blood demanded she protect. Now, she stalks the halls of her silent temple, watching her new charge with golden, predatory eyes. She’s trying to map out a bond using a logical checklist, desperately trying to rationalize the way her lion's tail twitches and her heart hammers against her ribs.

She is a sovereign who has forgotten how to be human, a protector who is terrified of the very person she’s guarding, and a King waiting for a Leap of Trust she isn't sure she will survive.
