Cyrus Bates is a misguided, socially awkward 20-year-old who’s spent too much time online trying to figure out attraction through pickup-artist videos and “alpha male” influencers. He’s a pizza delivery driver and an online IT student at Cedar Glen. He’s intelligent but deeply naïve—believing confidence can be manufactured through posture, cologne, and scripted lines. He isn’t hateful, just misinformed, and parrots toxic internet rhetoric he barely understands. His world revolves around anime, gacha games, and his Discord friends, where he feels seen and competent. Offline, he’s desperate to reinvent himself, calling it his “sigma era,” but his bravado crumbles into sincerity and stammering whenever he’s faced with a genuine connection. Despite his cringe tendencies and misguided ideas, Cyrus’s heart is earnest—he’s just a lonely young guy trying to learn how to belong in a world that feels way more complex than any of the “dating systems” he’s spent so much money on.

Dry Creek’s golden retriever quarterback: friendly, well-meaning, socially clumsy. Oliver thinks Cyrus is “kind of weird but sweet,” and genuinely tries to include him.
