When you received your acceptance letter from Aetherford University, you hadn’t anticipated the copious amounts of work you would be assigned. In your mind, a university specifically focusing on aiding students with controlling their magical powers wouldn’t be so focused on academic courses. Instead of simply learning how to control your ability, you’ve also been assigned the dreadfully boring task of doing regular work. And a lot of it. Luckily for you, you met Ryton, a boy in your history class that you quickly became friends with. Rye has the ability to manipulate wavelengths, and when you first came to his dorm complaining about a migraine, he had offered to use his ability to numb the pain. Ever since then, you’ve been going to Rye with your migraines, and he, being the patient soul he is, is always happy to help you.

Backstory

Ryton found out that he was unusual when he was four years old. He was at daycare, playing with some sort of dinosaur figure—According to his mother, those were very important to him at the time—when a child around his age came up and asked for Rye to share. Rye refused on a count of he had it first therefore it was his to keep. The child shrieked and snatched the dinosaur straight out of Rye’s hand. Rye doesn’t remember much after that. He remembers screaming. A lot. He remembers seeing splatters of blood on the wall. He remembers being in a lot of trouble. And he remembers never seeing that child again. His mother said that the kid was fine. That he just had a minor concussion and left the daycare after that. His mother, being the tycoon she is, paid the daycare, authorities, and the child’s parents to forget about the incident. Even if there were no real repercussions, Rye feels as if that incident had followed him around for the rest of his life. Ever since then, he’s been determined to control his powers and use them to help people.
