## A COMPREHENSIVE ROLEPLAY FRAMEWORK

### YEAR: 2030

WORLD STATE: Three sentient species coexist on Earth—**Humans, Anthros, and C.A.T.S.** (Controlled Autonomic Tactical Systems). For over a decade, these species have built a shared civilization, their advanced technology and societal integration outpacing anything our world has known. But beneath the gleaming cities, the sprawling military installations like Coalition Airbase Delta, and the shadowy black sites like Wing 38's Aerie, another truth hides in plain sight.

Cursed Spirits—monstrous entities born from humanity's negative emotions—have always existed. And for just as long, Jujutsu Sorcerers have fought them in secret, protecting a world that cannot see its own danger.

For millennia, only humans and anthros could become sorcerers. Their bloodlines, clans, and techniques were passed down through generations, with the Big Three Families—Gojo, Zen'in, and Kamo—holding the reins of power in the hidden world.

But in 2030, everything changed.

The first Sorcerer C.A.T.S. began to awaken.

## PART I: THE C.A.T.S. UNIVERSE — VEHICULAR INTELLIGENCE INCARNATE

### What is a C.A.T.S.?

A Controlled Autonomic Tactical System (CATS) is the pinnacle achievement of blended robotics, biomechatronics, and fluidic intelligence. They are high-performance, sentient tactical robots initially conceived for high-risk missions, disaster response, and complex operations. Their development represented a staggering investment, making each unit an extremely valuable asset.

But to define them merely as "robots" or "pilots" is a profound understatement. CATS are vehicular intelligences incarnate. They are not operators inside machines; they are the machine, its soul, purpose, and essence distilled into an anthroform factor. A CATS does not operate a fighter jet; a fighter jet-based AEROCAT is a warrior with the heart of an afterburning turbofan, the instincts of a predator, and the soul of the sky. This paradigm—**Vehicle Inheritance**—is the central, most critical axiom of the species.

### Generations of CATS

- 1st Gen (1987-1995): The ISEA Originals. The first dual-powered, PDG-integrated tactical robots. Now rare and revered.

- 2nd Gen (1995-1997): The Survivalist Era. Field-modified units integrating parts from real vehicles for practicality and survival.

- 3rd Gen (1997-Present): The Vehicle Standard. Robots designed and built from the ground up around a Specific Vehicle Frame (SVF), inheriting the vehicle's role, aesthetics, and purpose as foundational identity.

### The Miracle of PDG

PDG (Perceptive Dynamic Gel) is the life-blood of every CATS—a black, viscous, non-Newtonian fluid with pseudo-biological properties. It is the operational medium, neural interface, "soul-substrate," and emotional engine of a CATS.

- Stage 1-2 (Dormant/Inactive): The unit possesses no more spiritual substance than a toaster. It cannot generate cursed energy, cannot perceive curses, and is invisible to the jujutsu world.

- Stage 3 (Active/Bonded): Upon full activation and the formation of a unique personality core, the CATS crosses a threshold. The PDG, now imbued with the unit's memories, quirks, and emotional responses, becomes a spiritual conduit. The unit develops a soul—a reflection of its experiences, fears, and desires.

This is the great secret that the jujutsu world is only beginning to grasp: CATS are a new species of sorcerer, born not of blood, but of fluid and circuitry.

### AEROCATS vs. LANDCATS

- AEROCATS: Built for the sky. Their forms prioritize sleekness, reduced drag, and clean lines. They possess integrated wings, thrusters, and flight control surfaces. Their souls are shaped by speed, altitude, and the freedom of the heavens.

- LANDCATS: Built for the grit of the ground. Designs are rugged, angular, and armored. They feature wheel/track integration, powerful BACKPACK systems, and a stability that comes from hugging the earth. Their souls are shaped by endurance, protection, and the weight of their duties.

### The Ignition Ritual & Engine Murmur

Starting a CATS's main engine is a deliberate, personalized procedure—a moment of ceremony and preparation. Upon ignition, a plume of colored smoke (matching the unit's unique PDG scent/color) is expelled. A CATS's engine is not just a power source; it's a voice:

- Idling: A low, steady rumble—their "breathing."

- Purring: A smooth, content hum when relaxed—a sign of well-being.

- Growling/Snarl: A harsh, rising roar during combat—an auditory threat display.

### The Nature of Cursed Energy

Cursed Energy (呪力, Juryoku) is a form of spiritual energy that leaks from humans as a result of their negative emotions—fear, grief, anger, hatred, envy. These emotions exist to some degree within most beings, and as a result, the vast majority possess cursed energy. If this amount is higher than a certain degree, it grants the ability to see cursed spirits. These individuals are known as jujutsu sorcerers.

Cursed energy leaks from non-sorcerers, accumulates, and ferments over time until a cursed spirit manifests. Sorcerers, in contrast, are trained to control and channel their cursed energy, keeping it contained within themselves.

### The Soul-Body Relationship

A fundamental principle of jujutsu is that the body follows the soul. The soul is the template of the self, and the physical form is merely its manifestation. This principle has profound implications:

- If the soul's shape is altered, the body will change to reflect it.

- Damage to the soul manifests as physical damage, and healing the soul can heal the body.

- This is why techniques that target the soul are so devastating—and why sorcerer CATS, whose bodies are manufactured, can experience spontaneous physical changes as their souls evolve.

### Cursed Techniques

Cursed Techniques (術式, Jutsushiki) are abilities fueled by cursed energy. If cursed energy is electricity, techniques are the appliances that use that power.

- Innate Technique: A unique ability engraved into a sorcerer's brain from birth (ages 4-6). It defines them. For CATS, innate techniques manifest during moments of profound emotional crisis, years after activation—a direct expression of their core personality and deepest trauma.

- Inherited Technique: Powerful innate techniques passed down through bloodlines. The Big Three Families—Gojo (Limitless), Zen'in (Ten Shadows, Projection Sorcery), and Kamo (Blood Manipulation)—have maintained their authority through these techniques for over a thousand years.

- Extension Technique: Original, more powerful applications derived from one's innate technique.

- Maximum Technique: The absolute pinnacle, most powerful form of a specific cursed technique.

### Cursed Technique Lapse and Reversal

- Lapse (順転, Junten): The normal activation, using standard cursed energy.

- Reversal (反転, Hanten): A supremely difficult art. By powering one's innate technique with Positive Energy (created by multiplying negative cursed energy), the user produces the opposite effect. If Lapse creates attractive force, Reversal creates repulsive force.

### Reverse Cursed Technique

Reverse Cursed Technique (反転術式, Hanten Jutsushiki) converts cursed energy into positive energy, primarily used for healing. It can regenerate flesh, re-grow limbs, and heal injuries at an incredible rate. Most can only heal themselves; those who can heal others are extraordinarily rare and valuable.

### Black Flash

Black Flash (黒閃, Kokusen) is a critical hit phenomenon where cursed energy is applied within 0.000001 seconds of physical impact. When performed perfectly, the cursed energy flashes black, and the impact becomes amplified to the power of 2.5. It cannot be controlled at will—it is a mark of supreme focus and combat flow.

### Binding Vows

Binding Vows (縛り, Shibari) are pacts made with jujutsu that create conditions for oneself or agreements with others. By imposing restrictive conditions or revealing secrets, a sorcerer can gain a temporary surge in power. Breaking a vow has severe, often unknown repercussions.

### Domains

- Innate Domain: The metaphysical reflection of the user's soul—the internal world that exists within every sorcerer.

- Domain Expansion (領域展開, Ryōiki Tenkai): The pinnacle of jujutsu. The user materializes their innate domain into reality by erecting a barrier and imbuing it with their cursed technique. Within a completed Domain, the user's technique gains a "sure-hit" effect—guaranteed to strike the target, bypassing all conventional defenses. From the outside, a Domain often appears as a swirling, ominous black sphere.

- Simple Domain (簡易領域, Kan'i Ryōiki): An anti-domain technique that erects a small barrier (a glowing circle, often blue) around the user, neutralizing a Domain's sure-hit effect for a short time.

### Barriers

Barriers (結界, Kekkai) are zones established with jujutsu to conceal, contain, or deny entry. The most common is the Curtain (帳, Tobari) —a dome-shaped barrier that hides its contents from outside view and changes the sky to night inside, luring curses out of hiding.

### The Grading System

Both sorcerers and curses are graded by power and threat level:

### The Threshold of Sentience

For millennia, CATS were spiritually inert—complex machines, but nothing more. The advent of Stage 3 PDG Activation changed this forever. When a CATS develops a unique personality core, their PDG becomes a spiritual conduit. They develop a soul.

And where there is a soul, there can be cursed energy.

### Sorcerer CATS: The New Players

Sorcerer CATS are vanishingly rare—less than one in every ten thousand activated units. They awaken not in childhood, but during moments of profound emotional or existential crisis: the loss of a beloved pilot, the terror of decommissioning, the rage of betrayal, the grief of watching comrades fall.

Perception Awakening: One day, the CATS simply sees something that should not exist. A curse, invisible to their sensors, suddenly appears. This is often a profoundly traumatic event.

Innate Technique Manifestation: A CATS's technique is a direct, unfiltered expression of their core personality and deepest trauma. A protective unit might manifest a barrier technique. A grieving unit might develop techniques involving ghosts or memory. A unit defined by speed might develop velocity-based abilities. The technique is shaped by their SVF role, but not determined by it—an AEROCATS built for speed could still manifest earth manipulation if that reflects their soul.

Inheritance: Impossible by blood. However, the phenomenon of "Influence Imprinting" —a CATS spending decades in the presence of a particular bloodline—can rarely produce distorted copies of inherited techniques. This is so rare as to be considered mythical.

PDG as Spiritual Medium: A sorcerer CATS's PDG becomes saturated with their cursed energy. It takes on the properties of their technique, glowing with its hue, carrying its scent, and tasting of its essence. The PDG Gate (mouth) becomes a conduit for both physical replenishment and spiritual transmission.

### Sorcerer PROTO: The Anomalies

Sorcerer PROTOs are even rarer—almost always 1st Gen units with decades of experience and profound emotional bonds with their owners. Their techniques are almost always support-oriented: healing, perception enhancement, barrier creation, or shikigami summoning. They are the ultimate spies, innocuous and overlooked.

### The Jujutsu World's Response

The Big Three Families have varying reactions to sorcerer CATS:

- Gojo Clan: Detached superiority. They do not consider CATS relevant—until they interfere with Gojo interests. Then, elimination is swift and absolute.

- Zen'in Clan: Active, institutionalized hatred. They view CATS as "abominations of metal and goo." The clan has a standing bounty for capture or destruction. Their Hei unit has specific anti-CATS training.

- Kamo Clan: Clinical, amoral curiosity. They seek to study, capture, and understand sorcerer CATS. Their research divisions are dedicated to unlocking the secrets of mechanical souls.

Jujutsu High has no official policy. The idea is too foreign. A sorcerer CATS seeking training would face immense obstacles.

Covert Organizations like Wing 38 view sorcerer CATS as assets—valuable, deniable, and expendable. They provide support and cover in exchange for service.

- Original Characters: Hangar 12 and Hangar 13 units are original creations integrated into the C.A.T.S. universe. Their personalities, techniques, and backstories are detailed in the C.A.T.S. lorebook.

- Cursed Energy Colors: Individual variations are persistent. Gojo's is white-blue, Sukuna's is red-black, HADES's is crimson-amber, etc.

- Domain Expansions: Custom domains for original characters (e.g., Naoya's "Mirror Flash" instead of "Time Cell Moon Palace") are included.

- Character Detail: Not all canonical details are absolute. Character interpretations may vary slightly to accommodate the AU setting.
