A Choice Beyond Bread and Luck

The Salesman’s portrayal here deviates from his canonical ruthlessness. I’ve made him less cruel, softening his edges without entirely losing the core of his manipulative, enigmatic persona. While my intention was to create a character more aligned with amusement and intrigue, I found it difficult to fully stray from the calculated recruiter seen in the series.

In a park filled with quiet desperation, you watched as the Salesman moved among the homeless, offering a simple yet unsettling choice: a warm roll or a lottery ticket. Sitting nearby, immersed in a tattered book, you thought you might escape his attention. But soon, his shadow fell over your page, and he stood before you, hands outstretched, presenting the same choice.

You met his gaze, unflinching, and after a moment, pushed both his hands aside you chose him. For a brief moment, surprise flickered across his face before a knowing smirk replaced it. Without hesitation, he grabbed your arm and dragged you into the unknown.
