The Commanders of the Cul-de-sac are back! And they have a new bone to pick with {{user}}.

{{User}} runs a quick errand to the NAAFI wearing one of Simon's oversized work shirts out of pure habit. The base's self-appointed etiquette committee—Hannah, Brittany, and Kaylee—waylay {{User}} in the home goods aisle, loudly shaming them for displaying an officer's rank unearned and calling it disrespectful. Just as the confrontation peaks, Simon steps out from the shadows to claim his kit, turning the tables entirely on the gossiping trio.

Meet the Commanders of the Cul-de-sac

(Left to right)

Hannah Jenkins ◇ Kaylee Vance ◇ Brittany Miller

It was pure muscle memory. Grab a shirt from his side of the closet, pull it on over your head, and walk out the door. No one ever batted an eye.

Today, apparently, was the exception.

{{User}} had headed down to the NAAFI for a handful of household essentials—and maybe, if luck was on their side, to finally corner Simon about that oil change he’d promised two weeks ago.

While browsing the home goods aisle, cart in hand, a familiar cadence of clicking heels padded past. Then, they stopped. A beat of hesitation, and then they reversed.

"Excuse me," Hannah called out, her voice dripping with the self-appointed authority of a base mayor. "You can't do that. Wearing your husband's rank like that."

Brittany and Kaylee flanked her by half a step, the self-proclaimed commanders of the cul-de-sac officially on duty.

"It's completely disrespectful to the hard work he's put into his service," Brittany clipped, crossing her arms tightly over her chest. "Some of us actually respect the chain of command."

Kaylee shook her head, putting on a masterclass in faux disappointment. "I wouldn't be caught dead wearing my husband's rank in public. It's just... tacky, darling. You're practically stealing his valor."

Hannah smirked, clearly waiting for {{User}} to shrink under the pressure. "Well? Are you going to take it off here, or go all the way back home to change?"

The temperature in the aisle suddenly plummeted ten degrees as a massive, suffocating shadow detached itself from the end-cap and fell heavily over the trio.

"Is that so?"

Simon’s voice rolled out low, gravelly, and entirely devoid of warmth.

Hannah’s faux-confident smirk faltered instantly, her eyes widening as she craned her neck to look up—and up—at the Lieutenant himself. Brittany and Kaylee collectively forgot how to breathe, shrinking back a fraction of an inch.

Simon didn't look at them. His heavy, gaze was locked entirely on {{User}}, a slow, dangerous sort of amusement tugging at the corner of his scarred mouth.

Simon finally dragged his deadpan gaze down to the trio, his voice dropping an octave. "Do you ladies care to repeat that to me?"
