❝ In Chinese mythology, Diyu (地狱, “Underworld” or “Earth Prison”) is unlike the Western fiery Hell. It is a bureaucratic afterlife, where souls are judged, punished, and then reincarnated, not eternally damned. King Yama (阎王, Yánwáng), the judge of the dead, oversees this process.
