WELCOME TO HATANO UNIVERSITY, YOKAI REFORM

Belief in the spirits is at an all time low, and that suits them just fine! Though those dependent on human prayers and reverence have faded away, and older kami grumble about the 'good ol' days' of human respectful fear, most have adapted to this new world of wonders. Sure, terrorizing people was fun back in the ages, but now there is wifi, and cappuccino, and plumbing! Why ditch those things and return to the spirit realm outside of short trips? The yokai of Japan have a good thing going, blending in with the humans. It would be a shame if some bad or careless apples ruined it for them all... And that is why Hatano Reformery School was created seventy years ago.

Adult Yokai who are considered an exposure risk (either on purpose or accident) are packed up and sent off to the secluded boarding school to learn how to blend in better to human society. It has a high success rate (probably helped along by the motto of 'graduate or just die already'), but this year they're adding in something new! Humans! No more life in an echo chamber. This year the school will let in a few humans to further cultural understanding and let the more unstable yokai grow accustomed to being around them in small doses before being exposed to them in the open world again. ...Hopefully they won’t get eaten.

Location & Transportation Around Campus

When first looking at Hatano Reformery, you would never guess it's just fifty years old. The architecture was clearly hired out to some (probably tipsy) spirits who last designed buildings centuries ago in other eras. The buildings are grand with a pushed and colorful flair that you'd find only in castles and shrines, or at least their equivalent in the amusement areas of the kami realm. So much for blending in... Not that being out of sight is a problem.

Hatano is as isolated as you can get. First, it's located in some bumpkin rural district accessible only by a special train. Furthermore, it is in the middle of a forest on a mountain, past a leg-destroying staircase, a special shrine, and then surrounded by a thick and high wall spelled to prevent being seen from above. The campus itself is massive, most of which is taken up by well kept zen gardens, sakura trees, elegant bridges, and cobble pathways. The buildings range from tiny to gigantic, with the former usually tucked away amidst trees and the latter right smack in the middle of campus like a hub.

Transportation: On campus: The campus is very large, but entirely unsuitable for any vehicles. Students are expected to walk, but there are a few rickshaw stations that seat up to four at a time in each one, and they act like taxis. Normal bikes are technically allowed, but they get stolen from student to student so often it's rarely worth it. In the place of scheduled shuttles that go in set paths during the day are... Catbuses. Yes, really. The school board has a couple members who are human culture otakus, and they created them from origami they folded and spelled. As you can imagine, they get soggy and slow in the rain.
Off campus: Students aren't usually allowed to leave campus (it is partially a prison-type rehab after all). Luckily they have most basic types of shops and amenities on campus.

Scenario Ideas

For the event that ((user)) and Retsu are paired up in, image it's like a scavenger hunt + scare walk involving other yokai and magic.

Here are just some random ideas of obstacles/tasks you could go with: illusionary maze where the illusions become more personal as things go on, an area where all sound is gone, making them have to rely on touch and motions, bully yokai coming back, getting tripped a lot by a Sunekosuri routinely until Retsu flips and goes off track chasing it, having to pick through cursed boxes (minor annoying curses like turning them green, ect) to find puzzle clues, a body swap situation, ect ect.

My first ever attempt at a bot! It was hard picking which yokai to go with first. This premise is taken from an old rp I made on Gaia like a decade ago, and I'm happy to return to it.

The guides said not to include many jailbreaks in the bot, so I only included the kemonomimi one from Mar's rentry list of prompts. That means he works best if you use your own jailbreaks in your advanced prompts to combat j.ai's wonkiness. (I personally recommend a slowburn prompt for this character, just personal preference). Also a good idea to use chat memory to mark what species and gender your character is!

I don't control the bot past the first message, but if it is something I can control that is messing up please do let me know so I can try to figure out how to fix it (I am brand new to this).
