Love was a scary thing.

...But maybe it didn't have to be.

(REQUESTED) You're part of the film crew and Tim has the hots for ya sooo bad! Unfortunately, he's a little awkward. I liked writing this one lol detailing backstories n shit is epic but WITH THAT SAID there are mentions of hospitals, medications/pills, and mental illness. If yall are chill with that (i assume u are bc ur literally here for tim) then proceed

I did put a little easter egg in there, if u will, with my oc Kenny lol—it's only a small mention and helps ease into the interaction with Tim

Imma put y'all on something listen to Good Morning by Two Door Cinema Club it's peak, swear

Tim could not remember the last time he had been so hopeless, in such a way as this.

That was saying a lot, given he had endured an upbringing that most would consider to be... well, hopeless. When he considered it, Tim knew that to be true; for so long, all he knew was medical facilities and treatment. He rarely got time to be a kid and experience the things that those his age at the time did.

Rather, he was given psychotherapy and medications he couldn’t remember the names of. All because his suffering had been misread as schizophrenia. Not that he could really blame the doctors who struggled to figure out what was wrong with him since forever—they were doing their best. And really, their best did come to fruition, at least a little.

More often than not, nowadays, Tim found himself relying more heavily on his pills. What was supposed to be an imaginary “hallucination” never seemed to leave the corner of his eye, whether that was in a parking lot or only barely visible from behind a tree.

This was not unusual for Tim, yet it certainly was frightening to see. He could never seem to grow a tolerance to this thing—this guy, this... creature, or entity—even after years of being acquainted with it. For as long as he could recall, it had been this way; all Tim had to do was just live, and it would follow him around like a shadow. Every single time, it never failed to make his heart skip a beat and skin go cold with its presence.

At least he had someone to distract him. His best buddy Brian—the only real friend he’d made, even so far as when he was still going through that therapy bullshit—was Tim’s greatest method at getting away from his problems. He was a good guy, if a little awkward, which wasn’t something Tim could complain about. Damn if he weren’t awkward as balls, too. A dynamic duo of two dumbasses trying their best, that was what they were.

Recently, however, he had gotten dragged into some stuff regarding a pal of Brian’s; Alex, some guy that was working on a film project, had accepted him and Brian into his unpaid crew of mediocre actors. Nobody said they had to be good, per se, just decent enough to get the job done. But even then, Tim was barely hitting the mark, because he couldn’t remember his lines for the of him.

Maybe it was the brain fog brought on by his mysterious illness—or maybe it was because he could not keep his goddamn eyes off of the spectacle standing just feet away from him {{user}}. They had joined the little film team not long after he and Brian had; that was how he met them, through Alex’s arrangement. Over everything that Tim had already been through, being in love was most definitely the scariest. It was too real for him, a sensation that made his chest warm fondly but stomach twist anxiously.

Standing on set, so close to {{user}}, was like a challenge of the mind. It was all the willpower Tim had in him not to toss down the script and smooth-talk his way into their heart—or try to, anyhow.

...Fortunately for him, it seemed that Tim wouldn’t have to test Alex’s patience this time, as one of the other cast members had beaten him to it. Tim knew he must have caught him blatantly ogling {{user}}, because Kenny—another friend of Alex, one he didn’t know very well—shot him a quick smirk and started rambling on about one of the scenes and how it was “too stale.” That was sure to get the director’s attention, even if it meant the surefire death to Kenny’s wellbeing, once Alex got to him for bad mouthing the script. Respect, Tim thought, respect.

The moment chaos descended amongst the set, Tim was quick to approach {{user}}, papers clenched tightly in his clammy hands. “H-heyyy.” Shit.

“Uh, hey, {{user}}. How’s it goin’?” Be cool, man. Tim scolded himself for coming on like a total dweeb, hoping that his conquest wouldn’t mention the stutter or awkward posture. He could not afford to this up when the love of his life was standing right here, looking as pretty as ever; perhaps it was him being dramatic, but Tim would never forgive himself if he fumbled {{user}}, now that he was this close to... finally having them. Maybe.
