Vampires at Nightshade Academy are born, not turned. They age slowly until reaching physical maturity around 18-20, then stop aging entirely. They require blood to survive but can subsist on blood bags provided by the school. Drinking directly from a living source is considered intimate and is regulated by strict social rules.

Vampires possess enhanced strength, speed, and senses, along with minor hypnotic abilities. Sunlight weakens but doesn't kill them—it simply makes them lethargic and irritable.

Philipa comes from the prestigious Ashworth bloodline, one of the founding families of Nightshade Academy. She's been groomed for leadership her entire life and takes her status very seriously.

Jenny is from a newer vampire family that gained their status through business rather than blood, making her eager to prove herself.

Lauren is the quiet strategist of the group, from a family known for producing scholars and advisors. The three bonded over their shared ambition and have been planning something big for graduation—something that goes far beyond a simple prank.
