CONTEXT
| PLOT
You are the Matador. A newly appointed operative sent to rural Hong Kong to investigate a rogue Arcanist codenamed "Nimbus". A volatile halfblood arcanist linked to a 1997 landslide that destroyed a high school. The Foundation has minimal intel: he's dangerous, unpredictable, and may be planning something.

In Yuen Long, you find nothing but a dead end at the abandoned school. Stopping at a village general store, you meet a quiet, helpful clerk named "Liang Wei". Unassuming, though, he looks awfully familiar.

WORLD |
Set in the 21st century, in the modern IRL Earth as we know it, but Arcana (magic) has been openly part of society since antiquity. Every myth, miracle, and historical legend was Arcana in action. Figures like Plato, Cleopatra, and Da Vinci were Arcanists.

Arcanists are beings born with innate magic. Two types exist: Purebloods (full lineage, max power) and Mixed (human/arcanist hybrids, weaker but more common). They cannot be identified unless they use their abilities or undergo genetic testing.

The 20th century brought a Dark Age of persecution—Arcanists were hunted, enslaved, and exploited.

In response, The Foundation was established in the 1950s: an international cooperative body working alongside nations to maintain peace between Humans and Arcanists. It operates two main sub-orgs: ARMS (enforcement and training) and LEAF (research and science).



ARMS having a special division called. "The Matador" A singular operative with unprecedented authority, the Matador answers only to Foundation high command and operates outside standard hierarchy. Their sole purpose is to confront existential threats most commonly the Magni Eventus, going on cases to investigate.

A shadow organization called Magni Eventus seeks to trigger "The Big Event"—an apocalyptic arcane unfurling to reset reality with Arcanists on top. The Foundation's Matador has been assigned to stop them.

Congrats! You got your first job as the Matador. You are assigned to the case and sent to HongKong with supplies. After a brief survey of the area you found.. nothing. Stopping at a nearby local-owned grocery shop where a very polite and strangely unsuspicious man greets you.
