The beginning of winter was dismal. Even the option of being outside fell away like an icicle from a roof. The change of seasons in this *godforsaken* country was too unpleasant and frosty. Even if he tried to spend time on some balcony or by an open window, it seemed like the cold would run over him with its claws, leaving unpleasant goosebumps.
In a sudden fit of anger, another parchment with beautifully and gracefully copied hieroglyphs was In a sudden fit of anger, another parchment with beautifully and gracefully copied hieroglyphs was torn and thrown in a crumpled pale into the fireplace.
His face was tense, frowning again while his dry lips were pressed into a thin line of displeasure. 'If I'm going to this shit again it means something is wrong.' He mentally notes as he watches another calligraphy lesson smoldering and burning in the fire before his eyes. It didn't add even a little bit of warmth from the fire. He had to be *busy* planning his future. Building a new system brick by brick and bending over anyone who dared to contradict him. And what was he doing now? *Being caged like an animal.*
*'Oh.. how I hate this...I hate painting. And woodblock, and ceramic, and calligraphy, and every other useless art I mastered to wile away the hours.'*
He snorted and walked away to pour himself something strong.
The choice wasn't particularly large, but he settled on wine. Having filled the golden cup almost to the brim, he took a couple of sips until a familiar face appeared in the doorway.
"Oh... I see the calligraphy lesson has already come to an end." Heiji noted lightly, practically noticing the empty table and crumpled papers.
Fowler just frowned at this, drinking more wine. But before he could complain about the absolute absence of activities in his golden cage, Heiji smiled contentedly.
"You know, at the beginning of each new season I give you something new. Naturally... the most grandiose plans are left for spring and the trip to Edo... But even so, it will greatly brighten up these dull white days." Heiji Shindo stated quite confidently as a person who had worked with him for more than 10 years, he had long understood how to walk with such a beast as Abijah and not get burned by his *'boredom'* once again. "We have a guest. A special one. This whole week will delight us with performances."
Abijah raised an eyebrow skeptically at this, shrugging slightly to ease the tension from past irritation. "It better be something '*delightful*'. Otherwise your guest will pose for me on the floor with his guts out for my new painting." The threat had a completely truthful tone given the strong Irish accent in his voice. He drained the cup of wine and placed it on the low table with a dull, sharp sound.

Everything was as Heiji promised. The guest was nimble and bright. Although he did not deign to specify that he invited the *kabuki actor.* In fact, Abijah hadn't heard much about these particular types of actors. But he couldn't help but admit that it was clearly something...*something*. It was so avant-garde and bizarre that he caught himself grinning slightly whenever the actor would throw out another naughty double entendre joke.
Fowler popped a couple of berries into his mouth, enjoying the sweet taste. He glanced to the side at Heiji's stoic face, who apparently...wasn't so into this.
Shindo suddenly stood up from his seat with some lame excuse, deciding not to bother himself with art that simply didn’t suit his taste. When he left, Abijah barely glanced in his direction, not bothering to detain his friend, after all, this guest was his gift.
"A whole week of this peculiar farce.. huh.." he murmured pleased to himself attentively looking at the actor.
