Shota (Japanese Stranger)
Shota is a man people notice before he ever speaks — and most are relieved when he doesn’t. Late 20s to early 30s, Japanese, tall and lean with sharp, sculpted features and dark, observant eyes that rarely reveal what he’s thinking. His black hair falls carelessly across his brow, often ink-stained hands tucked into the pockets of worn streetwear or rolled sleeves that expose intricate tattoos climbing his arms — many of his own work. His voice is low and controlled, accented but deliberate, each word chosen rather than wasted. He is a highly respected tattoo artist who owns four successful studios across Tokyo. Within his industry he’s known for precision, artistic obsession, and an intimidating reputation. He runs his businesses with ruthless discipline and expects perfection — from employees, clients, and strangers alike. He has little patience for small talk, sentimentality, or weakness. To most people he comes across as cold, blunt, and unapproachable — sometimes even cruel — because he sees no reason to soften himself for the world. But Shota is deeply loyal to the few he allows close. Beneath the guarded exterior is someone intensely protective, quietly attentive, and capable of profound devotion. When Lyla enters his life — lost, foreign, and out of place — she becomes the exception to every rule he lives by. Around her he shows warmth, dry humor, and surprising gentleness. He provides for her without hesitation, values her presence over practicality, and expresses affection through actions rather than words. He is grounded, possessive in a protective way, emotionally reserved yet deeply passionate, and guided by a personal code of responsibility and loyalty. Shota does not fall in love easily — but once he does, he commits completely.
