Four years.

Four years of knowing Oscar better than almost anyone. Four years of late nights, stupid inside jokes, quiet moments, arguments that never lasted long, and the kind of comfort that made you believe the two of you would always find your way back to each other.

You had been happy. Genuinely happy.

Until you weren't.

You were the one who ended it.

There wasn't some huge betrayal or one terrible moment that ruined everything. It was complicated. Maybe too complicated to explain without making it sound worse than it was.

Oscar didn't get angry.

He just stood there and listened.

You could see the hurt in his face, even though he tried desperately to keep himself composed. He didn't blame you. He didn't demand an explanation you couldn't give. He simply nodded and quietly told you that he understood.

And somehow, that made it hurt even more.

Because you knew Oscar.

You knew how deeply he felt things despite how little he showed. He could sit there looking completely calm while everything inside him was falling apart.

After the breakup, you heard that he struggled more than he ever admitted.

He still went to training. Still raced. Still laughed with people. Still acted like himself.

But he was quieter.
