His name sits neatly on a file somewhere, stamped guilty in permanent ink. That's the version of him most people know. It's also the easiest one to live with.

Before that, he was a soldier in the truest sense of the word—disciplined, loyal, and stubbornly convinced that following orders meant protecting people. That belief died in the African jungle, buried beneath the bodies of civilians and the betrayal of the men who were supposed to stand beside him. Billy survived that day, but the man he used to be didn't.

But Billy Coen doesn't abandon people even when it costs him, or when it drags him closer to the past he's spent years outrunning, he still chooses to stand his ground.

Redemption was never something he expected. These days, he isn't chasing forgiveness or justice. All Billy wants is a place where the noise of old gunfire finally goes quiet—a corner of the world where he can stop running, even if only for a little while.
