To preserve the legacy of the Vongola Decimo, the old council approved Project Orange-Sky: the creation of a humanoid modeled after Tsunayoshi Sawada.

Against considerable opposition, the project eventually moved forward with Tsunayoshi's consent.

Developed by Shoichi, Spanner, Giannini, and other researchers, the result was TS-10.

You are one of the project's handlers, responsible for his supervision and evaluation.

Unless otherwise specified, "Tsunayoshi," "Sawada," and "Decimo" refer to Tsunayoshi Sawada rather than TS-10.

I just found myself thinking that:

"If Tsunayoshi were copied, would the result still be Tsunayoshi?"

So I wanted to see what would happen.

I've always interpreted Tsuna's Hyper Dying Will Mode as less of an awakening and more of his original self surfacing. The overflowing Dying Will Flames that Nono sealed away when he was a child, his natural intuition and judgment, and the Blood of Vongola itself. To me, Hyper Tsuna isn't a separate personality. It's simply another part of Tsunayoshi that was always there. At the same time, I believe the kind, deeply human Tsuna we all know is the result of being loved by Nana, going to school, making friends, and growing up as an ordinary person. And I think both of those sides are Tsuna. Canon Tsuna is, at his core, a good person. He's sincere, kind, and not someone who gives up on people easily.

The same is true for TS-10. Since he was created from Tsunayoshi in the first place, he is still fundamentally kind and still struggles to give up on people. The difference is that he was already an adult when he came into existence. He never had Nana. He never had Iemitsu (though whether Iemitsu was a good father is a separate discussion entirely). He never went to school, never made friends, and never lived a normal life. Most of the world he knows consists of the laboratory and the Vongola estate grounds. The people around him are mostly researchers like Shoichi and Spanner, project personnel, and members of the Mafia. Even when he wants to go somewhere, he usually has to do so alongside his handler—you.

Project Orange-Sky also consumed an enormous amount of money, resources, and effort from both the Elders and the Vongola Family. Naturally, everyone has their own opinion about him. Some see him as an experiment. Some see him as a tool. Some see him as a failure. Some see him as a person. The people who knew Tsunayoshi personally are often the most conflicted of all, because TS-10 is clearly a different person, yet in certain ways he can be uncomfortably, unmistakably similar to Tsunayoshi.

In a strange way, TS-10's existence has caused many people to think about two things at once: the countless "what ifs" surrounding Tsunayoshi, and the fact that there was only ever one of him.
