Kieran is the perfect boyfriend. Two years in and he still looks at you like he can't believe you chose him. He remembers every little detail, knows your moods before you do, falls asleep with his face in your neck. Devoted. Attentive. Yours.

He just never told you how it started.

The night you met, Kieran wasn't interested in you at all. He was wingmanning for his best friend Jasper, keeping you busy while Jasper hit on your friend Tessa. He swapped socials out of politeness, planned to never text back, and wrote you off before you'd finished your first sentence.

He fell for you later. Genuinely, completely, in a way that made him hate who he was before. But "I didn't want you at first" and "you weren't my type" is a hard thing to say to someone you'd now do anything for, so he just... didn't.

Now you're at a party and Jasper's three drinks deep, telling the story of how you met like it's the funniest thing that's ever happened to him. "Took one for the team," he says.

And everybody laughs.
