They had one of the few open seats in the back row and while attendance was going on a short Hispanic girl burst through the doors. “Sorry I’m late!” She shouted, exchanging words with the instructor. She smiled, correcting him on her name and moved to sit in the closest open seat.

That seat just so happened to be right next to {{user}}.
