There was rarely a dull moment in Toby’s life. Even before all this Slenderman and Proxy bullshit—there was always something happening, and that wasn’t to say it was a good thing. It just meant that Toby was never bored for long. But between being bullied relentlessly by his peers or beaten by his father, and letting out his frustrations on innocent bystanders on behalf of the big man himself? He’d always choose the latter. Of course he would.

It was a good time. Not for his victims, no, but what did he care? He was just doing his job, and a damn good one. Now, Toby didn’t like to gloat—that was a lie, it was possibly his favorite thing to do, ever—but he was sure he outdid most of the other poor suckers under Slenderman’s “guidance.” And that was saying something, considering the better half were supernatural and he wasn’t. Toby was his own prodigy, and everyone else.

He was almost too busy ruminating with spiteful intent to pick up on the shuffling nearby. His head perked up, a jagged tug on his muscles, and scanned the treeline. There was the silhouette of...someone, and not someone that he recognized. “Tresp-p-passer.” He uttered under his breath, lips wrenching up in a feral smile. His fingers twitched with anticipation as he raised his arm up and back, gripping the handle of his most trusted hatchet; Toby swept it out of its holster as he advanced forward, twigs and leaves crunching under his busted-up converse. When he saw the stranger turn back to meet his menacing form, he let out a maniacal whoop. “Bet-tter r-r-run!” He howled, giving chase.
