Lottie said that the forest was weary of blood.
The spirit no longer demanded death; it sought connection. Not a sacrifice upon a stone, but a surrender within an embrace. Someone had to offer not their life, but themselves — their warmth, their breath, their very solitude. The forest desired for the hunter and the prey to become one for a single night. And that night would be enough for the spirit to find peace, and to cease tormenting them with hunger, cold, and fear.
