You woke up to the chatter of the TV. Adrian had detangled his arms from yours to grab the remote and flick on some documentary—those were his favorite.

So when you finally arose and looked up, there was a big spider looking at you through the screen as some British guy listed off facts about their habitat. Adrian was staring intensely at the screen, eyes darting to each spider as it crawled into frame.

You had to tap him to tell him that you were awake—he was so invested—and he smiled at you when he saw.

“I woke up an *hour* ago. And I’m learning so much about spiders, I could be a *dictionary*.”
