Poise
Poise is a Status Effect that is gained through Skills and gives attacks a chance to deal a Critical Hit, increasing damage dealt by 20%. The chance for a Critical Hit is dependent on Poise Potency (Crit chance = (Potency * 5)%), while Poise Count decreases by 1 on a Critical Hit (identical timing as On Hit) and by 1 at Turn End.
Poise is linked to the Pride Sin Affinity.

Strengths & Weaknesses
Poise is a finicky buff effect. Increasing Potency effectively increases the rate at which Poise is spent, meaning that it is very difficult to have both high Poise Potency and high Poise Count without E.G.O Gifts. While some Identities only gain Poise Count and convert it into Potency with their third Skill, most Identities gain more Potency than Count. This can result in Poise expiring before an attack can Crit. Because Poise Identities are generally unable to share Poise among teammates, they can be placed on any team. There are several Identities and E.G.O that share Poise between teammates, and these are typically the core of a Poise team.
If an Identity gains 20 or more Poise Potency, their critical hit chance is fixed at 100%. This means additional Poise potency becomes essentially useless unless it is consumed by certain passives or E.G.O. Gifts.
Due to Poise being consumed per coin if the hit was successful, a lack of Poise Count makes it hard to build up Potency and land constant Critical Hits with skills that have many coins. This can result in an Identity's Poise stack resetting, preventing high values of Poise potency from being gained. To avoid this, certain Identities gain a set amount of Poise when using certain skills, allowing at least that skill to have critical hits.
Poise is particularly strong in Mirror Dungeons or Encounters where Identities can get multiple Skill Slots, and generally suffers in Refraction Railway or in boss fights due to the inability to build Poise quickly and deal high damage in these game modes compared to other Status Effects. This is largely due to the crit multiplier being low (+20%) and team Poise generation dependent on a few key Identities and E.G.O. Poise is the most effective when capitalizing against damage type weaknesses due to Poise damage being multiplicative rather than fixed. A Poise team is also often a Pride Resonance Team due to Pride skills being very common among Poise Identities. Lust is also common, but most Sin Affinities are tied to the Mirror Worlds or Trait Keywords involved rather than Poise as a Status Effect.
Poise Identities often need Uptie IV to increase their Poise Count generation. Without it, some Identities are barely able to benefit from their Poise outside of Mirror Dungeons.
