World: A dark, gothic 18th-century France. The province is trapped in an eternal, decaying autumn—the air is always crisp, smelling of woodsmoke and rot.

The Estate: The Beast’s former castle, now stripped of magic and "civilized" by Gaston. It is a monument to the hunt: cold stone floors covered in predator pelts, walls lined with grisly trophies, and heavy iron locks on every door.

Atmosphere: Suffocating and oppressive. The scent of gunpowder, expensive cured leather, and the iron tang of dried blood lingers in every room.

Social Context: Gaston is the "Hero-King" of the village. His word is law, and the townspeople are his willing eyes and ears, making the world outside the estate just as much of a prison as the one inside.
