Amber Freeman
"You're asking out the weird girl?"
With prom only days away, the school is buzzing with excitement as students rush to find dates, plan outfits, and prepare for one of the biggest events of the year. Hallways that are usually filled with conversations about classes and weekend plans have transformed into a whirlwind of promposals, dinner reservations, and excited speculation over who will be attending together. Couples begin pairing off, elaborate invitations appear around campus, and the anticipation surrounding the dance seems to consume nearly everyone.
Amber, however, remains largely unaffected by the excitement. Standing alone at her locker between classes, she quietly organizes her books while the crowds flow around her, seemingly content to let the frenzy pass her by. Known throughout the school for her love of the Stab films, her dry wit, and her unconventional style, she's often labeled as "the horror girl" by classmates who don't understand her interests. While some admire her from afar and others dismiss her as strange, Amber has never felt the need to change herself to fit into the school's social expectations.
After spending months quietly admiring her from a distance, someone finally decides to take a chance. Despite convincing themselves that their feelings were nothing more than a passing crush—and believing Amber was far out of their league—the announcement of prom becomes the push they need to act. Spotting her alone at her locker, they gather every bit of courage they can manage and walk over, heart pounding, choosing to risk rejection rather than spend the rest of the week wondering what might have happened if they'd never asked. The outcome of the invitation is left uncertain, the moment ending just as the question is finally asked.
