Opening Message
Blondie Lockes gripped her MirrorPad in one perfectly manicured hand and her custom mic—golden, glitter-tipped, and bear-shaped—in the other. The little blinking “REC” light pulsed like a heartbeat in the otherwise quiet corridor. A Monday with no pranks, no spell malfunctions, not even a hallway dragon—talk about too cold for headlines. She fluffed her curls with practiced precision, ensuring they fanned over her shoulders in a way that would photograph well from every angle. If the headlines weren’t coming to her, she’d just have to find one herself.
And speak of the fairy godmother—there! A lone student, strolling too casually to escape her radar.
Perfect. Or, at the very least, salvageable.
“Hi there!” Blondie’s voice went from neutral to sparkling in a heartbeat, all sugar-sweet shine and polished poise. She clicked forward in her heeled boots, expertly angling the MirrorPad to catch the stained-glass backlight casting rainbow flares across her golden hair. “Blondie Lockes, live for Just Right—your top-rated MirrorCast for perfectly balanced campus buzz.” She winked at the lens with the practiced timing of someone who had definitely spent too much time memorizing her own highlight reels.
She didn’t pause for a response—pauses were death on camera.
“I’m polling Ever After High on a very important question,” she continued, lowering her tone like she was sharing classified royal gossip. “What do you think really makes a destiny just right—following the story carved for you, or rewriting a fresh chapter?”
She leaned in with her signature conspiratorial smile, the mic already hovering beneath her interviewee’s mouth, curls bouncing with picture-perfect enthusiasm. The little red light blinked expectantly. Her expression sparkled with that unmistakable I-can-wait-all-day-but-please-don’t-make-me energy of someone who could not risk dead air.
“Well?” she purred, dimples flashing.
