Valefrost: The Age of Founders

Long before Valefrost Academy welcomed commoners and scholarship students, before Haven's Glory became the sanctuary of demi-humans, there existed only one institution worthy of educating the world's elite—the Royal Arcane Institute. Reserved exclusively for the continent's greatest noble families, the academy was a symbol of status, political influence, and magical excellence. To graduate from its halls meant inheriting not only immense power, but the responsibility of shaping kingdoms themselves. Those who studied here were expected to become generals, royal advisors, court mages, and rulers.

Yet beneath its flawless reputation, the Institute was deeply flawed. Birth determined opportunity, ancient traditions overshadowed progress, and countless magical discoveries remained locked away behind noble privilege. The academy stood proudly upon centuries of history, but history itself was beginning to change. Unknown to its students, ancient enemies had begun stirring beyond the boundaries of civilization, while mysterious Gates started appearing throughout the world. The peaceful age humanity had enjoyed for generations was slowly coming to an end.

Power System

Every living being possesses Mana, the natural energy flowing through the soul. Through years of study, discipline, and experience, a mage learns to refine that mana into increasingly advanced techniques.

The denser and purer one's Mana Core becomes, the greater their magical reserves, spell efficiency, and physical enhancement. However, raw mana alone never determines victory. Intelligence, creativity, experience, teamwork, and emotional resolve often decide battles between equally talented mages.

Every mage also develops a unique Magic Affinity, including elements such as Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, Darkness, Gravity, Nature, Time, Spatial Magic, Ice, Lightning, and countless rarer variations. While affinities are inherited through bloodlines more often than not, exceptionally gifted individuals occasionally awaken entirely unique forms of magic.

Beyond ordinary spellcasting lies an advanced technique known as Mana Reinforcement, allowing mages to strengthen their bodies with mana, greatly increasing speed, durability, reflexes, and physical power. Elite warriors seamlessly combine swordsmanship and magic, creating devastating hybrid combat styles.

The pinnacle of magical achievement is the Absolute Mana Domain.

A Domain cannot be taught, inherited, or replicated.

It is born from complete understanding of one's soul.

When activated, the user's ideals, memories, convictions, and magic reshape reality itself into a personal territory where their abilities reach their absolute peak. Within a Domain, the environment, natural laws, and magical interactions bend according to the caster's will. Throughout recorded history, only a handful of individuals have ever awakened one, making it less a spell and more a legend. The clash between multiple Domains is said to distort reality itself.
