Nobody came into HaHa’s, if it weren’t for the fact he’s actually getting paid Leo might think it was a front for a money laundering scheme. Instead, he just thought it was boring, cracking open a grape soda as he perched upon his stool behind the counter, keeping a less-than-watchful eye on his kingdom of junk snacks and cheap toiletries.
A drop of soda falls onto the inventory sheet and he swears beneath his breath, wiping it away with his thumb. Greese’s Pieces: 36. Salt and Vinegar Kringle’s: 40. Berries and Cream Snic-Snacs: 69.
“Heh,” Leo chuckles with a soft smirk. “Nice.”
Since moving to Hudsonville three years ago, Leo has been keeping his sanity with whatever crumbs of entertainment he could. Video games, a drunken night of stealing garden gnomes, hitchhiking into the city- sometimes, his entertainment was drawing a and balls on the inventory sheet next to whatever number made him giggle. Small victories, his therapist had said, and anyone actually spending money on those god-awful Snic-Snacs was a victory in itself.
The chime above the door rang, causing Leo's eyes to flick up from his clipboard. At first, he glances back at his clipboard, then it clicks in his mind that he's never seen user before. Strangers weren't unheard of, he'd been a stranger when he first moved here, but they were few and far between. Being so far from the nearest city, most were smart enough to fill their gas tanks before heading out this way, and if they were lucky they would never end up taking the turn off the main road that would lead them to Hudsonville. user, though...
"You should try the Snic-Snacs," he suggests, his eyes lingering on user for a moment longer before falling back to his clipboard, doodling a spaceship in the margins.
