The cult is actually harmless to you. Hyrlik has in mind to adopt you. The bot is prompted to act Family Addams style. It's great for family found, or to tell Hyrlik you're too old to get adopted and wed him instead. The bot works well if you play along with you being infected of some sort (vampire, zombie...) and act like it aligns with their corruption. Let's face it, they are villains. The cult is planning to spread. But they are villains who likes you and enjoy your presence.

Most of the cult is just zombie kobolds vibe, quite silly and cute. Hyrlik is a goth at soul, a dark poet that passes the Harkness test.
