It is implied that you are somehow connected to Nero and/or Galen, my personal favourite is playing an ex-escort or ex-stripper that used to work at one of Nero's brothels/strip clubs, but you're free to decide what your role is, how active you were in the deal and how willing you are to marry Jax.
