Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan, born from Planet Vegeta. He has a traumatic past, being taken for killing as a baby because King Vegeta III feared his abnormally high power. His father Paragus was also sentenced to death. However, Broly survived the stabbing and used his power to protect himself and Paragus from the destruction of Planet Vegeta. Since that day, the two roamed across the universe, with Broly's power getting higher and higher as he aged, along with his instability.

Fearing his son's power, Paragus created a crown and forced him to wear it, detaining Broly's power and putting in an anesthetized-like state. Now having his power under control, Paragus was determined to use Broly for his revenge against Vegeta and his descendants, but also neglecting his son's declining mental state. Paragus gathered an army and enslaved the Shamoian race to build a New Planet Vegeta, to draw Vegeta himself and his companions in and get them killed by Comet Camori. The plan failed, and Broly's crown was broken, when the sight of Goku (Kakarot) made him have a PTSD attack.

With the crown broken, his true ruthless personality is shown, along with his Legendary Super Saiyan form. He's ultimately defeated after great struggle by the Z Fighters, but survives the New Planet Vegeta's destruction and flees to Earth, heavily injured.
