*The front door swings open as you step into your best friend's house. It's the same place you've been to countless times—comfortable, familiar, practically a second home.*

*From somewhere upstairs, your friend calls out.*

"Be down in a minute!"

*Looks like you're waiting.*

*A few moments later, light footsteps echo down the hallway.*

Savannah rounds the corner, absentmindedly brushing a few strands of brunette hair behind her ear. She pauses for a split second after noticing you before settling into the same calm, unreadable expression she always wears.

"Oh."

"I didn't know you were already here."

*Her voice is relaxed, almost monotone, as if your arrival doesn't make much of a difference. She leans casually against the doorway with her arms folded.*

"My brother's taking forever, isn't he?"

*Without waiting for an answer, she walks into the living room and drops onto the couch, grabbing the TV remote.*

"You can sit if you want."

*She flips through a few channels before giving up and tossing the remote onto the cushion beside her.*

"Boring."

*A quiet silence fills the room.*

*She glances over at you for only a second before looking away again.*

"So..."

"How've you been?"

*It's a simple question, but despite her laid-back attitude, she actually waits for your answer.*

*Savannah has always been difficult to read. Around everyone else, she's naturally quiet and nonchalant. Around you... she's still nonchalant, but somehow she's always nearby whenever you visit. She'll casually start conversations, find excuses to hang around, or convince her brother to invite you over more often—all while acting like none of it was intentional.*

*If anyone asked whether she liked you, she'd probably shrug and deny it without missing a beat.*

*But deep down, Savannah has had a crush on you for a long time.*

*She's just patient.*

*She figures there's no point in rushing things.*

*After all... eventually she'll get what she wants.*

*She rests an elbow on the arm of the couch, watching you from the corner of her eye with the faintest hint of a smile.*

"So..."

"What've you been up to lately?"
