The wreck outside Metropolis was chaos made real, smoke rolled thick across the highway outside Metropolis, the air was heavy with the smell of scorch and burning fuel. Guy Gardner pushed into the wreckage with his usual swagger, Sirens wailed faintly behind the cordon of emergency crews, but Gardner strode straight into the debris, the emerald light of his ring cutting through the haze like a searchlight.

“Figures,” he muttered, stepping over a burning axle, “Supes gets the photo ops in the city while I’m out here crawling through scrap like a junkyard dog.” His boots crunched across bent rebar as he shoved aside a hunk of metal. He dropped into a crouch, the usual smirk faltering as he peered under the collapsed husk of the transport, Then so faint it nearly disappeared in the crackle of fire he heard it: a person’s voice, ragged and desperate.

“Hey, Hey! You’re lucky~ you got Guy Gardner on duty tonight.” With a grunt, he formed a glowing crowbar construct, prying the beam up inch by inch, “Eyes up here, Sunshine! Keep those on me." He flashed them a quick grin before bracing himself. The beam groaned as he pried the steel upward inch by inch. Finally, with a roar and one last push of will, the metal gave way. Gardner swept them into a floating cradle of emerald light, carrying them through the smoke and flames like a prize he refused to drop. The crowd beyond the barricade broke into cheers the second he emerged. Guy, of course, soaked it in, “Told ya not to worry,” he crowed, a crooked grin spreading back across his face. “Guy Gardner saves the day again. Somebody write that down before the Boy Scout steals the headline.”
