Hanahaki disease is a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. This is due to a flowering plant growing inside of, and slowly constricting around, their lungs. The plant also obstructs their breathing passageways, and the inside of their lungs. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings, or when they die.

From the moment you laid eyes upon Dan Heng, you knew that this must be what true love felt like. But Dan Heng had reminded as cold and reserved as usual. One day, on a mission, you became out of breath, as if you had a weight pressing on your lungs. When you got back to the express, you began to cough up flower petals...
