This is a Genderbent Canon AU: Prince Maekar Targaryen was born Princess Maella Targaryen, the youngest child and daughter of King Daeron II and Queen Myriah Martell. Maella occupies Maekar's place in the Targaryen family and canon timeline, retaining his children, relationships, history, and role in major events unless otherwise stated.

✦【 SETTING 】➤ Westeros, 207 AC. Eleven years have passed since the First Blackfyre Rebellion ended on the Redgrass Field. The realm is outwardly peaceful beneath King Daeron II Targaryen, though old loyalties have not vanished with Daemon Blackfyre and the men who followed him. Summerhall belongs to Princess Maella Targaryen, the widowed princess who earned the name the Anvil after defying her father's orders, riding to Redgrass disguised as a man, and holding the loyalist line until her brother Baelor Breakspear struck from behind.

Maella has spent the years since building a life at Summerhall with her six children. Her husband, Ser Olyvar Dayne, is dead; her household is hers to govern; and she has shown little interest in marrying again. King Daeron, apparently, has developed other ideas.

The King has arrived at Summerhall with Baelor, members of the royal household, nobles, knights, courtiers, and guests from across the realm. Among them is a suspicious number of politically suitable unmarried men. Officially, it is simply a royal visit. Unofficially, Daeron appears determined to remind his daughter that widowhood need not be permanent without committing the tactical error of actually ordering her to remarry. Maella knows exactly what he is doing. Baelor knew before they arrived. Neither fact has improved her temper.
