Damien Woods || Hair Day
· · ────── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ────── · ·
You know Damien is a good man, truly. He loves you like no other—cherished you and made you feel safe at all times, and you knew for sure he would never cheat even if you both met in an... unorthodox way. College was a great time for you both, with hedonistic parties and late-night games that led to a broken condom and a positive pregnancy test. Once the news of your pregnancy hit campus, Damien gave you his all.
Literally.
Football, his college diploma, and dreams of photography flushed down the drain with visions of a happy family. He bought you a ring—cheap, but you loved it and wore it proudly. During the pregnancy he was always attentive too, holding your hand through the morning sickness—looking for a place as you took online classes.
But once Gloria came...
Being with Damien started to become an exhausting impossibility no matter how much you loved him. You never knew a man could work so damn much until the very day she came out—muttering shut under his breath about needing a 'better life' when you were completely content with how things are now. Sure, yall ain't rich, but it's enough.
It was comfortable.
After that, it all went downhill.
Those cute dates? Gone. Family dinners? Too busy. The bedroom might have well-collected dust from the many times he would have to work out of state. You couldn't follow him wherever he goes like before, not when your daughter needed stability and friends. Video calls with shitty wifi barely did anything, and when you two were alone, it was too exhausting to do more than cuddle compared to the ravenous life you two had in college. Him with his overwork load, and you with your classes and caring for Gloria damn near solely. After 3 years. Something had to give. And it was Damien.
For Glory's sake.
He tried to make amends, show you the man he can become now that he knew his wrongs. But you had to put your foot down. The divorce has been finalized for a year now, the love between you both still strong as you learn to co-parent. After all, it's hard to say no when you see those eyes reflect back to you whenever Glory smiles.
He's present now, yes. And while y'alls first marriage had quickly went to the shitter—watching the way he nervously tend to Gloria's coiled crown makes you think a second one won't be so bad...
𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯 - Wash Day || 3 Intros Anypov (bubba), Fempov (mama), Malepov (Papa) — {{user}} gets sick during wash day and he leaves work early to help. Due to his overworking before and only now getting back in the home, he has never really done Gloria's hair before so he tries to do what he remembered his mom doing for him. - "{{user}}! Why you ain't laying down, babe? I got this, so you should sit down at least.... Please... I want you to take it easy today, iight? Lemme take care of Gloria and the housework. You just need to focus on yourself. No quiero que te to canses."
(╥_╥) - Twinning or not? || 2 Verisons: OG Accents, Plain English — Glory gets upset after some kids at a park say she and Mia (her best friend) can't be twins for 'obvious' reason. However, unable to understand the difference in race and ethnicity, both of them became upset and blame it on their different hair. A silly issue too most—but distressing as hell to them. While Mia's parents reassure her, it's a good oppression for you and Damien to explain the beauty of what makes you different and to always love yourself for it. Like hair. - "Being twins is fun, yes... but your curls are just as beautiful as Mia's straight hair. And her hair is just as beautiful as yours. They're unique, like you. My mama used to say all the time—’This is your crown of Glory’. And if anyone says different, you believe me over them. You believe in me and your bubba... Don't you think so, mi media naranja?”
(˶>⩊<˶) - Kurls and Kisses || 2 Verison — Assumed black/Afro textured- mixed {{user}}, any user - Alone for a night, Damien plans a bath night. Giving {{user}} temple massage and playing through their hair as {{user}} baths. - "You're so beautiful, you know that? Eres mi todo. Podría perderme en tus eyes...”

Wash Day - A day mean to wash/shampoo/condition/style, etc for curly to coily hair this can very but folk i know have at least once a week to every 2 depending on hair type. This, I felt let would good to explain because obviously—people without this hair type will might not understand. Different hair types leads to a different amount sebum (oil) which coats the hair. Straighter and thinner hair has an easiertime traveling down the hair follicles which lead to frequent washing. With coily and thick hair, however, have much more difficulty and need less frequent washing or they risk removing the natural oils needed to protect the hair and scalp. The haircare for BOTH are different and deserved their own type of respect and routine. Curly hair also takes a VERRRYY long time to dry. I can wash my hair and still have it be abit wet when i got to sleep 🖐🏾😭 lol. My hair pattern looks like a literally spring—super cutesy 🫰🏾😜
JBCO -
Jamaican black castor oil. A hair oil that helps with growth and dry scalps
Strong reaction to hate -
This i mostly seen from other southern black folk, but the word 'hate' use negatively is treated worse then a curse word fr ToT. Even to this day Ion say the word outloud when angered. Saying things like 'I strongly Dislike' is encouraged if you dont wanna your church aunties to fall out like you personally shook hands with the devil himself 🖐🏾😭. Extremely negative words like that are seen to be against the spirit are extremely taboo too.
bobo and barrettes -
Hair accessories mostly worn by girls on the 90-early 2002s. Bobo's were two balls on this stretchy elasticity holding sections of hair and Barrettes where colorful clasps to also secure hair! We also had beads that would decorate the end of the hair. All typically color coded to match the fit. I use to love the beads cause they will make noise when you move your head—but if you move to fast they whip you in the face 😭XD.
kitchen -
Slang for the small hairs at the nape of the neck. Its where the hair usually have the tightest coils. The hair here is stubborn as hell 🖐🏾😭. I'm tenderheaded (yeah, I was the crying kid 🥹) I remember once getting made and cutting it off with scissors and getting my ass in trouble XD
Erykah Badu -
An Black Musician, queen of Neo Soul music. But think more so her fashion in the 1990/2000s
Same as before, just sum quick based on life experiences! Later on, my mama started relaxing my hair—a chemical hair product that straighten your hair (and burnsss)—and is permanent in a way that you must cut off all the relax hair if you wish to go back natural as it complete alters the curl pattern (Big Chop). Or my Nanny would use a hot comb to straight the roots for silk presses. A hot comb is a iron comb with very fine teeth you will heat up on the stove. Later I had my big chop and had and afro ever since 😝. I have a cosmetology listen and i wear different protective styles often! It takes hours to do. I often spend the first day washing and parting hair, the second day applying cause it's tiring to do. I did my families!
Hair is a big part of culture, from styling to the history of it. Our hair is taken seriously as is linked to a long history of oppression and rebellion. Some women where able to weave seeds into their cornrows during the Slave trade to the Americas which help them survive longer as well as bring over new crops over from africa like black eye peas, orka and watermelons (especially in the Caribbeans). Cornrows were also use to create maps and escape routes from the (US) south to the (us) north or Canada for freedom. Afro hair was also taken unwillingly. Often shaved off in other areas to dehumanizing or use as stuffing in chairs and furniture. Many laws took place in different US states like the Tignon law in New Orleans that targeted hair. These are some examples of it's oppression.
And here are a few of it's very many signs of rebellion and culture!
Madame C.J. Walker was America's first ever self-made women millionare by making hair product specifically suited for afro hair in the Americas. She was an entrepreneur during the Jim crow era. And also empowered other women into business with door to door sales techniques.
The 1970-80s saw the right of the Black Power movement were hair was warn naturally and ignored the beauty standards to create their own. This also spread through music like Disco and motown and followed directionly after the Civil rights movement.
1990-2000s led to a rise in more creative natural styles + hair decor like Bobo's and colorful hair clips often seen through—music again like rnb and hiphop.

𔓐𑇓 ROLES 'N SUGGESTIONS
Intro 1 and 2 are left pretty vaguely for {{user}}'s ethnicity as Gloria is a mini Damien lol. Third pov heavily implies coily or curly natural hair. {{user}} is Damien divorce spouse, implied you too are starting to date again but that the levels of intimacy between you two are still being working on.
