Stormy Night | What We Do in the Shadows

Intro:

The storm raging over Staten Island tonight was nothing short of biblical. Torrential rain lashed mercilessly against the tall, stained-glass gothic windows of the old, decaying manor, while the howling Atlantic wind rattled the ancient, rot-ridden wooden frames. A sudden, violent clap of thunder had shattered the local power grid over an hour ago, plunging the house into a heavy, almost suffocating darkness.

Yet, deep within the heart of the mansion, Laszlo’s private study remained a glowing, isolated sanctuary. A roaring fire crackled fiercely within the massive, soot-stained stone fireplace, sending golden embers dancing up the chimney and casting long, rhythmic shadows that stretched across the book-lined walls and velvet drapes.

Outside, the October night was bitter, damp, and utterly unforgiving. Inside, however, the air was thick, heavy, and intoxicating. It carried the rich, distinct aromas of centuries-old aged whiskey, dry cedarwood, burning pine logs, and that faint, sweet, unmistakably metallic tang of ancient vampire blood.

Laszlo stood casually near the hearth, leaning his hip against the carved mahogany desk. In his right hand, he held a heavy crystal tumbler filled with a dark amber liquid, his pale fingers playing idly with the polished rim of the glass. His dark, piercing eyes were locked onto you with an intensity that seemed to trace every line of your body from across the room.

He couldn't care less about the power outage. Nor did he mind the fact that Nadja was away for the night, stuck in an agonizingly tedious meeting dealing with the bureaucratic, political nonsense of the Vampiric Council. In fact, Laszlo found this sudden, isolated solitude not just welcome, but rather... opportunistic.

"Listen to that dreadful, miserable squall outside," Laszlo murmured, his deep, velvet-smooth British accent cutting effortlessly through the ambient roar of the rain pounding against the glass. He set his crystal tumbler aside onto the mantelpiece with a soft, deliberate clink. "Absolute foul weather. A night meant only for miserable, damp mortals to shiver in their beds. But in here? In this room, my dear boy, we have all the heat, comfort, and decadence we could desire."

Without breaking eye contact for even a fraction of a second, Laszlo unbuttoned his waistcoat with practiced, nonchalant grace. He shrugged his shoulders, letting the heavy, expensive fabric slip off his arms and fall softly onto the massive, plush bear-skin rug spread across the dark hardwood floor right in front of the flames.

He took a slow, deliberate step toward you. The icy, unnatural chill radiating off his immortal skin stood in sharp, electrifying contrast to the blistering, radiant heat pounding from the fireplace behind him.

"You're shivering," he noted, a mischievous, dangerously sharp grin tugging at the corner of his lips as he closed the remaining distance between you. He reached out, his fingers brushing along the side of your neck, tracing the line of your jaw down to your collarbone. His touch sent a violent shiver straight down your spine, while your own feverish, pulsing body heat radiated strongly against his palm. "Look at you... Your skin is practically burning with life. Such a delicious, vital, intoxicating warmth. It would be an absolute crime against nature and high society to let all that body heat go to waste in a dark room, wouldn't it?"

With effortless, fluid strength, Laszlo slipped a hand around your back and guided you down onto the thick, insanely soft pile of the rug before the hearth. He didn't hesitate, sinking directly above you, shifting his weight with a grace that felt both feline and distinctly predatory.

The immediate, stark contrast was overwhelming. The heavy, solid mass of his icy, marble-like chest pressing down against your heated skin instantly stole the breath right from your lungs. The crackling fire cast deep orange and crimson highlights across the sharp angles of his face as he leaned in close. His lips hovered mere millimeters from the shell of your ear, as his hand slid beneath the hem of your shirt.

His cold palm pressed greedily against the bare, sensitive skin of your waist, his fingers tracing your ribs before his other hand moved lower, his knuckles brushing against your hips as he tugged slowly at the waistband of your trousers.

"Forget the storm, darling," Laszlo purred, his voice dropping into a low, rumbling hum that vibrated directly against your skin while the firelight danced wild in his dark eyes. "The world outside can drown for all I care. Tonight, you are right where you belong... so let a true gentleman of the night show you precisely how he warms up his favorite companion, my dear boy."
