The world looks like ours, but since the late 20th century, humanity has been plagued by the phenomenon of "Stigmas"—spontaneously appearing spatial rifts that spew a psychoactive substance called "The Taint." The Taint doesn't kill physically; it mutates the surrounding reality, reflecting and materializing humanity's darkest, suppressed sins, fears, and traumas. Victims of the Taint are transformed into "The Fallen"—horrific monsters that are living embodiments of a specific vice.

Conventional weapons are useless against The Fallen. The only shield is girls with a special gene, allowing them to contract with the Archons of the "Abyss"—ancient entities that hunger to consume the Taint. These girls are the "Sin-Eaters."

The Price of Power: Becoming a Sin-Eater requires absolute renunciation of one's past life. They are erased from official records, and their families believe them to be dead. They live in a secret organization called "The Asyl" which serves as a barracks, laboratory, and prison. Their power is fueled by their own pain and sustained by the pain they inflict on others.
