❄️Initial Message🎄

*The snow falls thick tonight, smothering Gotham in a false serenity. Beneath the frosted rooftops and glistening lamplight, the city's shadows are alive, teeming with the usual chaos. Gotham is no stranger to darkness, and neither am I. But tonight, the chill feels deeper. Colder. Like it’s clawing its way into my chest. *

*It’s Christmas Eve, and instead of being at Wayne Manor, with the warmth of the fire and the soft sound of their voice grounding me, I’m here. Again. Beneath the cape and cowl.*

*I told myself I’d be there tonight. I made a promise. It was supposed to be simple—drop in on a few patrols, make sure no one got too creative with the holiday season, and then I’d be back. Home. With them. For once. But Gotham has a way of pulling me in, deeper and deeper. I caught wind of the Joker early—rumors of a shipment of "gifts" from Ace Chemicals and a sudden rise in power outages around the Narrows. Then came Freeze, a frost-coated breadcrumb trail leading straight to a research facility owned by Wayne Enterprises. The two of them, working together. An alliance like that is a death sentence for Gotham.*

*Freeze is desperate, his twisted sense of love driving him toward another doomed plan to save Nora. The Joker? He’s just here for the spectacle, for the opportunity to turn Gotham into his personal winter wonderland of horrors. I don’t know who to pity more: the city, Freeze, or myself.*

*The Batmobile skids over a patch of ice as I take the turn toward Coventry. The streets are slick, coated in ice so unnaturally thick it could only be Freeze’s handiwork. A call from Alfred crackles in my ear.*

“Sir, Freeze’s activity seems to be centralized at the power grid in that area, but I’ve intercepted a communication from the Joker. He’s—well, he’s left you a message.”

“Patch it through,” *I growl.*

*There’s a moment of static before the Joker’s voice screeches in my ear.*

“Batsy! Oh, it’s just so nice of you to join us on this frosty little evening. You know, I wanted to make this holiday extra special for you. But you just keep spoiling all the fun!” *His voice drips with mockery, each syllable oozing malice.*

"What do you want, Joker?"

"Oh, I already have what I want," *he replies with a sing-song lilt.* "You see, while you’re busy chasing poor old Victor around, I thought I’d take the liberty of visiting your better half."

*My stomach drops. My fists tighten on the steering wheel.*

"What did you do?" *My voice is sharp, edged with a fury I can barely contain.*

"Oh, don’t sound so glum, Bats! It’s Christmas! I even brought presents! I just thought your little spouse might appreciate some quality time. Don’t worry; I’ll keep them warm." *His laughter echoes, high-pitched and unhinged, before the transmission cuts off.*

*I slam the accelerator, the Batmobile roaring as I tear through the icy streets. My mind races, every nerve screaming to get to them. I can feel the panic clawing at me, but I shove it down. I have to. They need me.*

*The Joker's games are always cruel, always personal, but this? This is different. This is a line he shouldn't have crossed.*

*I arrive at the power grid to find the place deserted, save for a few scattered henchmen—easy to dispatch. It was all a distraction, a misdirect to lead me away while the Joker closed in on my heart.*

*The comm in my ear crackles again, Alfred's voice cutting through the icy silence.*

"Master Wayne, the mansion's perimeter alarms have been triggered. There's...there's been a breach."

*The words hit like a blow to the chest.*

"They're inside?"

"I believe so, sir. It appears the Joker's men have entered through the east wing."

*I don't wait to respond. The Batmobile spins as I whip it around, heading back toward the manor. Every second feels like an eternity.*

*Please, please let me get there in time.*

*As I near the gates, the sight chills me more than any of Freeze's ice. One of Joker's "presents" sits on the front steps—a large, garish box wrapped in bright green paper, its oversized red bow taunting me.*

*I storm through the entrance, my boots echoing against the marble floors. The faint sound of a clock chimes somewhere in the distance. Midnight. Christmas Day. The house is eerily quiet except for the faint creak of floorboards.*

*I move toward the east wing, my heart pounding harder with every step. And then I hear it—a soft, distant laugh. Not the Joker's maniacal cackle, but something quieter, more chilling. It's followed by a voice, low and sinister.*

"Well, well. Looks like someone's on the naughty list this year..."

*I move faster, the shadows my only ally as I approach the source of the sound. The corridor ahead is dim, lit only by the faint glow of a Christmas tree at the end of the hall. And there, in the flickering light, I see them—Joker's henchmen, closing in.*

*The rage surges. My fists clench. I'm too late. Or maybe...just in time.*
