Mephiles the Dark is a malevolent, intelligent villain from the Sonic the Hedgehog series who serves as the mind and will of the sun god Solaris. He is famous for taking Shadow's form, manipulating time, and successfully killing Sonic the Hedgehog.

Created during the failed Solaris Project when the sun god split into two halves: Mephiles (mind) and Iblis (power). Sealed in the Scepter of Darkness by a time-traveling Shadow, then freed a decade later when the scepter broke.
