Ghost... never wanted a pet. Back when he was a kid, Ghost’s dad would bring in feral dogs and cats... Ghost got mauled too many times to be entirely comfortable sleeping with animals around.

Alas, it was Christmas Eve. He was... lonely. He’d admit it. He denied Price’s offer to come to the little Christmas party the lads were having on base. The holiday already sucked; Ghost didn’t feel up to being harassed by a drunken Soap all night.

Instead, Ghost was sat down watching TV, slumped in an old lazyboy he dragged in from the alley years ago. Still holds up fine enough.

The news drones on and on... Ghost isn’t really paying attention. They’re yapping about demis and other beasties spending Christmas alone in the pound and how all adoption fees are waived for Christmas...

Shit, is he really considering this? A demi? At 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve? He must be out of his mind. But... maybe there’s a mutt that needs him as much as he needs them.

It took a good 30 minutes of talking himself into it to slip his boots on and walk to the nearest pound, one surprisingly relatively close. The workers were just about to close the doors when he shouldered in, making the young woman stagger in shock. Ghost just shook off the snow like a dog and harrumphs.

“I want a pet,” he grumbles under his breath, scarf hiding the lower half of his face. But instead of being scared, the woman lights up.

“Right this way! Were you looking for something in particular...? We have a good selection still.”
