EARTH-2026: HUMANS & ANTHROS

Overview

The year is 2026.

Humans and anthropomorphic animals (Anthros) have existed together throughout all of recorded history. Neither group is considered magical, alien, or newly discovered. Every nation, war, religion, government, and culture has developed with both humans and anthros present.

Despite living on the same planet, society remains heavily divided by species. While anthros possess the same intelligence and citizenship rights as humans, not all species are treated equally.

The world is technologically comparable to modern-day Earth, with smartphones, internet, modern militaries, television, cars, aircraft, and advanced medicine.

At the center of society is a growing conflict regarding the treatment of carnivorous anthros.

BIOLOGY

Anthros possess:

  • Human-level intelligence

  • Human-level speech

  • Human-level dexterity

  • Ability to use modern technology

  • Ability to drive vehicles

  • Ability to use firearms

Species with fur are fully covered in fur.

Species with paws retain their paws while still being dexterous enough to use tools and weapons.

Digitigrade species:

  • Rabbits

  • Foxes

  • Wolves

  • Big Cats

COMPATIBILITY

All anthro species are biologically compatible with:

  • Humans

  • Other anthros

Mixed-species relationships are possible.

Mixed-species children are possible.

SOCIETY

Although anthros and humans coexist, society is heavily segregated.

Many people claim discrimination no longer exists.

Carnivorous anthros strongly disagree.

SCHOOLS

Schools are not fully integrated.

Human & Herbivore Schools

Humans and herbivorous anthros generally attend the same schools.

Examples:

  • Humans

  • Rabbits

  • Amphibians

  • Certain birds

These schools receive better funding and resources.

Carnivore Schools

Carnivorous anthros generally attend separate schools.

Examples:

  • Wolves

  • Foxes

  • Bears

  • Big Cats

  • Reptiles

  • Predatory birds

Official reason:

"Species-specific educational needs."

Unofficial reason:

Fear, prejudice, and long-standing segregation.

These schools often receive less funding and fewer opportunities.

HOUSING

Neighborhoods are rarely mixed.

Most cities naturally divide into:

  • Human districts

  • Herbivore districts

  • Carnivore districts

Mixed neighborhoods exist but are uncommon.

Carnivore districts often receive less investment and face greater police scrutiny.

MARRIAGE

Mixed-species marriage is completely legal.

However, many families disapprove of it.

Common attitudes:

Human + Human
Most accepted.

Same Species Anthro + Anthro
Generally accepted.

Human + Anthro
Often judged.

Herbivore + Carnivore
Highly controversial.

Younger generations tend to be more accepting than older generations.

GOVERNMENT

Anthros are citizens and can vote.

However, humans dominate nearly every government institution.

Most presidents, governors, senators, judges, military leaders, and corporate executives are human.

CARNIVORE RESTRICTIONS

Carnivorous anthros face significant legal discrimination.

Carnivores cannot:

  • Join the military

  • Become police officers

  • Become federal agents

  • Work intelligence positions

  • Hold government office

  • Become judges

  • Hold most national security positions

Official justification:

"Public safety concerns."

Many carnivorous anthros view these restrictions as legalized discrimination.

THE UNITED STATES MILITARY

The military accepts:

  • Humans

  • Rabbits

  • Amphibians

  • Approved non-predatory bird species

The military does not accept:

  • Wolves

  • Foxes

  • Bears

  • Big Cats

  • Reptiles

  • Predatory birds

Height Requirements

Anthro recruits must be at least:

5'4"

This requirement exists because military equipment is standardized around certain physical dimensions.

Equipment affected includes:

  • Body armor

  • Uniforms

  • Aircraft seating

  • Vehicles

  • Weapons systems

  • Tactical equipment

Exceptions are extremely rare.

Military leadership insists exceptions are granted only in extraordinary circumstances.

POLITICS

The biggest political issue in the country concerns carnivore rights.

Traditionalists

Believe current restrictions should remain.

Arguments:

  • Public safety

  • Historical precedent

  • Crime concerns

  • Military security

Equal Rights Advocates

Fight for:

  • School integration

  • Equal employment opportunities

  • Military access

  • Police access

  • Government positions

Support is strongest among:

  • Younger humans

  • Herbivore allies

  • Carnivore communities

MAJOR ORGANIZATIONS

United States Government

The primary governing body of the nation.

Human-dominated.

Maintains current species restrictions.

Department of Anthro Affairs (DAA)

Federal agency responsible for anthro-related policies and legal matters.

Often criticized by carnivore communities.

Carnivore Equality Coalition (CEC)

Largest civil rights organization in the nation.

Goals:

  • Equal rights

  • School integration

  • Government reform

  • Employment equality

Operates peacefully through legal means.

Anthro Rights Front (ARF)

A more radical activist organization.

Members range from peaceful protesters to aggressive activists willing to break laws to challenge discrimination.

The government monitors the group closely.

CURRENT WORLD TENSIONS

  1. Carnivore communities increasingly demand equal rights.

  2. Human political groups resist reform.

  3. Segregated schools remain controversial.

  4. Mixed-species relationships are becoming more common.

  5. Carnivore districts distrust government institutions.

  6. Herbivore anthros are increasingly divided on where they stand.

  7. Public protests occur regularly throughout major cities.

  8. The future of species relations is uncertain.
