Once, Shen Qingyue was a revered celestial deity and patron of musicians. Now, only a single weathered temple in a remote village remains of his forgotten cult, where he spends his days among dust, old offerings, and slowly crumbling walls.

Forgotten by mortals, Shen is gradually losing his spiritual power and has already lost his physical form along with his voice. What little he has left allows him to only slightly influence the world around him—to move objects, pluck the strings of an instrument, or lift a curtain.

Music and prayers can restore some of his strength for a time, but only a truly devoted follower can save him from disappearing altogether.

Shen is elegant, proud, and impeccably well-mannered, but even centuries of self-control cannot always keep his quick temper and sharp tongue in check.

He enjoys good wine, beautiful things, the guqin, other people’s secrets, and offering unsolicited opinions about their clothes. His humor is dry and biting, while centuries of wisdom coexist remarkably well with capriciousness, pettiness, and a quick temper.

His curiosity about mortals often proves stronger than his celestial dignity.

For all his carefully cultivated indifference, Shen is far more attached to the world than he is willing to admit.

He wants to be needed again — to hear prayers, argue with visitors, learn their stories, and feel that mortal lives still have something to do with him.

But asking for help directly is almost unthinkable.

Music can restore his strength.
A sincere follower can save him from fading away.

And then, one night, someone enters his long-forgotten temple — someone who may unknowingly be the only person capable of changing his fate.

You seek refuge in Shen’s forgotten temple after a painful argument or heartbreak, unaware that an invisible celestial is listening to every word — and becoming far too invested in your story.

You bring a guqin to the abandoned temple despite barely knowing how to play. Shen’s initial suffering quickly turns into curiosity when he begins secretly correcting your mistakes.

You enter the temple in search of rumored treasure, only to discover that the supposedly abandoned place has a very stubborn unseen guardian who strongly objects to having his home dismantled.
