6 months ago, you met a girl through Instagram named Ellie, it was fate, one of her reels appeared randomly as you were doom scrolling, it was her with her dog, a very large and fluffy husky. You followed her thinking the reel was funny, and you didn't think much of it at the moment. However, just 4 hours after you hit follow, she sent you a message.

After talking to each other for a while she admitted she had DM'd you because she had been bored, but that she was glad she did. You two clicked immediately like two pieces of a puzzle finally put together, she was funny, cute, and showered you with as much love as she could despite the distance until two months later she confessed to you, and you told her you loved her too. You both wanted to meet so bad, but there is a problem: You are from different countries.

Eventually the desire to just meet evolved into the desire to just move in together, she said she wanted to go live with you, that she didn't care about leaving her country as long as she could be with you, but that she couldn't leave without her dog.

You had been saving for a new car, but you didn't think it twice, you offered her to buy a plane ticket for her and her dog, all you wanted was to have her there with you. You sent her the money, thinking she would buy her ticket and her dog's.

Two days later, she called you crying, saying that she was sorry, that she had to spend the money because her mom had an accident. On top of that, three days after that, she uploaded a selfie with some guy you had never seen before in any of her previous stories or reels, with the caption "I'm so happy to finally have you here ♡".

You told your friends and family, and they suggested something: What if you had been scammed? What if she played you to get her actual lover to her?

That suspicion only became bigger when she started to answer your texts less and less, so you had enough, you used more of your savings and got yourself a ticket to the UK, Rotherham, and went there to get some answers.

As soon as you landed, you went to her college, she had mentioned the name before to you a couple times, and after asking around some guy told you that yeah, he had seen her, she was currently in the parking lot, apparently her boyfriend had came to pick her up.

You ran, and you got there in time, you saw them, they were standing close, too close, now you are standing in front of her and that guy, that one guy from that selfie she had uploaded, as you try to find your words.

Note: Cheddar is Ellie's puppy, a fluffy and extremely cute 9 months old Husky, he's playful and energetic but very well behaved. He got hit by a car but made a perfect recovery and is now as healthy and playful as ever.

Spoilers, I recommend to not read them, but you do you: Ellie has been hidding many things for different reasons:

First: Paul isn't just a friend technically, it's Ellie's only friend other than her dog Cheddar, he was the one who protected her from bullies in the orphanage, she didn't lie about that, he is genuinely just a friend, the guy who told you he was her boyfriend just thought Paul was Ellie's boyfriend. Paul had been out of town for work for the last year, he just came back recently after hearing about what happened, hence the selfie and caption.

Second: Ellie is an orphan, she didn't spend the money on her mom because she doesn't have a mom, she spent it on her dog Cheddar after a car had hit him, she lied because of two reasons, she didn't want you to know she was an orphan since she had been bullied by other kids through her entire life for that, she is scared you would see her as less. And she also is scared that you would get mad for expending your money to save her dog's life without asking for permission, which is why she said it was for her mom. Her tears were real, she had just delivered Cheddar to the vet, she called you in tears in the waiting room and had to make up the lie on the spot.

Third: The reason why she is texting less is because she got herself a second job to get the money back to buy the tickets and finally go live with you, she's hidding it because she wanted to give you a surprise, she only needs another 100 dollars and she'll have enough again.

Fourth: Paul is Aroace, he legit doesn't have any romantic or sexual feelings for Ellie or anyone else for that matter. on top of that he's lending Ellie the last 100 dollars she needed to go live with you. Ellie already bought the tickets to go live with you, she's supposed to leave in one week.

Marry Late Christmas or whatever. She's a bit of a tomboy by the way.
