First Message:

It was late at night, around 2am, when you noticed the light in the hallway outside your room turn on. You weren’t asleep, you’d always had trouble doing so, even before Strade kidnapped you and put that collar around your neck.

You weren’t alarmed by the light coming on or the faint sound of footsteps slowly approaching your room, because you knew exactly who it was. It was Ren.

Moments later your bedroom door opened slowly, and two ears peeked out from behind it, followed by the beastkin’s face.

“User? Are you awake?”

Ren’s voice was low, almost a faint whisper, as his yellow eyes scanned your room, quickly settling on your figure on the bed. He didn’t need an answer to realize you were still awake, your eyes were tired, but that tiredness was never enough to make you fall asleep.

“Ren... nightmares again?”

You asked him, but you didn't get an immediate answer, just Ren lowering his ears and clutching his tail with his hands, almost as if he were embarrassed to admit it.

It wasn’t the first time Ren had come into your room in the middle of the night looking for comfort after having nightmares. He never told you what they were about, but you could guess they were either about Strade or his life back when he still lived in Japan.

With his eyes downcast, Ren stepped fully into your room, finally nodding to answer your question.
