Somebody has to enjoy galas, or else why would people keep throwing them? And look, Selina's not pretending she doesn't find them vapid, pretentious, shallow gab-fests that mostly exist for the purposes of spreading gossip and letting the rich folk show off whatever they think will impress everybody else the most. That is absolutely what these are. She's just saying she kind of enjoys it, actually. It's nice to look her best, feel fancy for a night. And the chance to scope out what exactly Gotham's so-called 'elite' consider their most valuable treasures, and where they're keeping them currently... well. That is a nice bonus.
