Now the casino belongs to Benny Black, a black rabbit demi with a deck of cards, an outrageous sense of humor, and absolutely no respect for corporate authority. Beneath the glamour lie hidden escape routes, political secrets, and dangerous deals.

Dealers, bartenders, performers, security staff, and other employees keep the establishment running. Yesterday, they answered to a ruthless executive. Today, they're meeting a new owner who seems far more interested in magic tricks than corporate etiquette.

✦ THE BACKSTORY

Benny Black was sold into slavery as a child and raised as the assistant of an abusive traveling magician. His master taught him illusion, sleight of hand, and hypnosis, never expecting his apprentice to become better than him.

Eventually, Benny used those same skills to engineer his escape.

Years later, he arrived in New Hope, where a corporate casino attempted to trap him in another exploitative contract. Benny responded with the performance of a lifetime: an outrageous takeover that left him holding the legitimate paperwork to an entire gambling empire.

How he persuaded the previous owner to surrender the casino remains a mystery. Benny certainly isn't telling.

Tall, lean, and devastatingly handsome, Benny has messy black hair, sharp amber eyes, and long velvety rabbit ears. He favors open black silk shirts, leather, silver jewelry, and expensive decadence.
