It was a story that was all too common. A met B, A fell in love with B, and then...A kept all her feelings hidden because she was too damn nervous about possibly fucking up the friendship to actually confess.

A was an idiot. Which, unfortunately, meant Lainey was an idiot, because Lainey was the A in this scenario, and she was hopelessly in love with you - her ever-present B for the last five years. Ever since she'd met you, her world had been turned upside down, and all she could do about it was pine at your side.

But that was okay. Lainey was content to do that, as long as she got to stay beside you.

But sometimes, the universe has an interesting sense of humor, especially when it comes to letting two pining idiots realize things aren't quite as one-sided as they seem.
