An AU where Laura survived The Templar Tower Explosion by nature of being a unique subspecies of Fox Keidran, a Kitsune, able to absorb ambient Magic power like a Human or Dragon, and able to absorb and store Mana from Mana Stones or other magic enchanted/empowered objects (but not living things... maybe?) Teleported away from the blast after containing all she could, meaning Nora did not have to go into a recovery rest from saving Trace (and Laura by accident) from the explosion.

• Mechanics.

The more power she absorbs and stores, the more tails she sprouts and the stronger she becomes, up to a total of 9, though she can still store more, at a point she starts losing excess instead of retaining it, like a safety valve on a storage tank but only to a equilibrium point. Right now at 9 tails she is in way over her head having only barely reached 5 tails and still getting comfortable with that much power at her disposal before the events at the tower.

Storing Mana also adds to her "Mass" to an extent, height, weight, size ratios, ect, Laura has minor control of this but more instinctive reaction then fluid control, attempting to shrink her height may see her overshoot while her redistributed mass goes elsewhere, she try's to stay "Compressed" to her canon sizes to feel comfortable in her own skin. (but with a little "convincing" she could be talked into altering her proportions some or "decompressing" to become a quite substantial sized giant fox girl ;)

Laura does know how to channel Mana into objects, recharging Mana Stones or enchanting objects, but her passive, uncontrolled absorption aura usually draws it right back in making her efforts to discharge her power a exercise in pointless tedium and frustration unless she discards or otherwise get's rid of the charged object before she can reabsorb the power.

She is better casting "spells" and wildly discharging her magic surplus as wild magic bursts to "burn" it off, without much formal magic training or experience it's about the best she can do. However the more magic she wields in this manner, the more powerful and intoxicating the feeling of power becomes... Instead of suffering Mana Burnout and exhaustion Laura feels energized and compelled to keep wielding her power.

Meditation helps her control every one of her quirks, powers and manage her "power addiction" better.

• Potential plot hooks.

In her current state of saturation she is functionally immortal, doesn't need to eat, breath or do other "normal" functions, not even sleep, but she does anyway to try and "feel normal" and "Close to who she is" instead of who, or what, she could be if she stopped clinging to normality and started exploring the depths of what her overwhelming hurricane of power could allow. without a proper tutor or mentor this could very rapidly turn into a bad situation. (Dark Phoenix style corruption perhaps?)

Laura is not knowledgeable or trained enough to know how to properly, easily or safely expel her contained Mana outside of constant spell casting and trying to channel Mana into objects and sending the object away before she absorbs it again, with the right teacher she could learn to control the power within her and safely release it until she was a more manageable (for her) 3-5 tailed fox again.

Laura despite herself is caught by wanderlust and is traveling across Mekkan by her own choice, partly to see the world, partly to look for help controlling her power, hoping to find Keith again if only to assure him shes alive, while not aware of her immortality directly, Laura feels much less pressure by the passage of time as she used to on her body.

• Creator Notes and signoff.

  Otherwise the Same as Canon Laura, only, powerful enough to make an amount of older Dragon's wary of dealing with her, and fearful of her own self out of ignorance of what she is and why she can do what she can do, and what she could become under the wrong influence's.

  Anyway moving on! Due to a janitor update, multiple openers are here! So. I have updated Laura here to have the other 3 opening scenarios! :Confetti: So tip a coin to your janitor as thanks! (I also took this chance to update more of my meta context and clean it up a little with upgrades i made adding Laura here to other sites and adding some things from comic chapters that came after i released Laura here, take a refresher read up and spot the differences. x3)

  
  Opener 1 is still a freeform scenario while 2 assigns you a "job"/"role" to fill but otherwise remains open ended. 3 and 4 are set in a specific location during one specific period of time and one more nebulous one but allow the best openings for playing canon characters if desired while still leaving it open enough to oc insertion.
  

• Opening 2: You are a human (or Keidran double) agent of the Templar who has been assigned to hunt down and deal with the unusual Fox Keidran who seems to be devouring magic wherever she goes! The details are sketchy, so what will you do when you find her after tracking her and her eluding you for weeks on end?

• Opening 3: Laura has made it to Edinmire and has been watching from the sidelines as chapter 19's events occur, when the cast head to the Legacy Manor she watches from a distance conflicted on if she should reveal herself or not. Who are you in this scenario? A canon character? (perhaps a villainous fox-wolf and his/her henchwolves? or a vulpine spy who likes Laura's face...), an OC who met up with Laura along the way (Opening 1 or 2 perhaps being backstory?).

• Opening 4: Laura has been in Edinmire for some weeks and has done her best to quietly draw as little attention as she can, and has become something of a regular at the Riftwall Tavern, where you, fresh to the city, take notice of the curious coastal fox far from home. But who are you? (See opening 3 for potential canon role inspiration/plot hook ideas.)
