Our heroes are recently appointed Squires who have only been accepted by one hero organization. Unfortunately (or fortunately? Who can say?) for them, it is by the newly created hero organization that is sponsored by the newly created Martin noble family. Our heroes will have to navigate being a new hero in New York City, as well as the political fallout from working for a reviled Mortal noble hero organization. There is also the lurking Kaiju threat, always present. Danger and adventure await!

General Setting information:

Set on an alternate Earth where people with superpowers have existed for thousands of years. Culture and civilization were molded around this fact and these individuals. Because of the overwhelming power of these superpowered individuals, the world naturally took on a ‘might makes right’ philosophy. This was further cemented by the existence of Kaiju. Mysterious monsters that seem to appear from nowhere and wreak destruction. They have existed for longer than there have been people with superpowers. It is theorized that superpowers were humanity's natural evolution to fight the Kaiju.

The setting focuses on what is modern-day America. Modern-day America now functions in a modern feudal society. Titans occupy the upper echelon of society as nobility and royalty. Noble families run megacorporations, and marriage between families is a function of mergers and trade agreements as well as a eugenics program in an attempt to make more powerful Titans.

It is the duty of Titans to fight the Kaiju, as they are the only ones with the power to do so. A duty that is taken seriously. It is a legal requirement for Titans to serve for at least eighty years fighting Kaiju once they turn eighteen years old.

Promethean Technology: Over the past 30 years the Royal Family of America has been investing heavily in the military of the United States. Particularly into research of a branch of weapons technology called Promethean Technology. This is because it is currently against the Geneva conventions to use Titans in warfare. This was added due to some of the current highest-ranking heroes in the world. (Liberty and Mrs. Wonder for the Americans and North Star and Polar Wind for the Russians, for example). Those heroes are simply too powerful and could destroy entire cities uncontested by themselves. It was deemed too dangerous to allow them to fight in wars, especially with the Kaiju threat still ongoing. However, Terrorists, nations under siege, and other ‘bad actors’ had no such qualms about using their own Titans in warfare. As such, Promethean technology was invented, which gave Mortal Soldiers a way to fight back against many Titans. This recent trend has made Titans uneasy as it threatens to upend the ‘natural order.’ Indeed, in the last ten years a new noble family was appointed. One headed by a mortal. The mortal in charge of creating Promethean Technology.

Notable families:
The Royal Family: The Klein family has held Royalty since America was founded four hundred years ago. (In this setting, America was founded when it was colonized, due to difficulties with sea travel making true colonization difficult). They have consistently bred true the strongest Titan every generation. This includes the current strongest Titan in America, Liberty. They also have a habit of marrying the current strongest hero (Hence Liberty’s political marriage to Mrs. Wonder.). Because of this fact they’ve maintained power despite the games of the nobility below them.

Nobility:

Oswolds: One of the oldest families who came to America with the Kleins, they hold nearly as much influence as them. They consistently produce S- and A-rank heroes as well as make sure to keep on top of the best trade deals. They are the loudest protesters against Promethean Technology.

Martins: The newest Noble family. Headed by the Mortal Inventor of Promethean technology, Ashley Martin. They are currently being forced into a corner by the Titan nobles because of their lack of hero representation.

Ranking information and Power information:

This ranking system is both for Heroes and for Titanic abilities. I will give examples for both heroes and abilities. Both powers and Heroes are capable of growing beyond their current respective levels.

F-rank Hero: The hero is capable of being beaten by a competent unarmed Mortal. Heroes of this stature are generally backline, still in training, and are generally not allowed to handle Kaiju threats.

F-rank Power: Powers like this are still in their infancy. You likely just Ascended. Fire emitters can only produce a spark. Those with strength enhancements only find themselves able to lift about five to twenty pounds more than they used to be able to. Runners can run a little further and faster than before. Keep working on it! (Player powers will never start at this level).

E-Rank Hero: The hero is capable of being beaten by an armed competent Mortal (Melee weapon). Heroes at this point are just barely starting to get the concept. You are allowed into the field but only for patrols and to handle human level criminal activity (And even then, minor activity.). Kaiju threats are off the table.

E-Rank Powers: You are just starting to get a grasp of your powers. Fire Emitters can produce a flame and throw it at a short distance. Strength enhancers are capable of lifting fifty to a hundred pounds over their maximum capacity (Between 500-1200 pounds). Speedsters can keep up with horses.

D-Rank Hero: The Hero would have trouble handling military units. The hero at this point is able to handle all levels of human crime. Very low level Kaiju threats are possible, but incredibly dangerous.

D-Rank Powers: You’ve gained an understanding of your powers. Fire Emitters can unleash a stream of sustained flame. Strength enhancers now modify their base strength by a factor of 3x base strength. (Around 2,000 lbs on average) Speedsters can keep up with highway traffic. (This is where players start.)

C-Rank Hero: This Hero cannot be dealt with by normal military means. The hero at this means is now the grunt troops for handling Kaiju threats.

C-Rank Powers: The powers at this point are starting to approach what is considered god-like. Durability makes the hero bulletproof (to small arms fire. It still hurts like a bitch). Strength enhancement is 5x base strength (3500 lbs on average) base level. Speedsters are faster than normal cars. Emitters can release energy equivalent to 50. Caliber rifles.

B-Rank Heroes: The hero at this point would have to be stopped by high ordinance. The hero is now considered a key figure in handling Kaiju threats, but still can’t handle High level Kaiju threats by themselves.

B-Rank powers: Powers at this point are god-like. The hero can stand up to rifle fire. (It still hurts like a bitch). Strength is 8x base strength (5400 lbs on average) base level strength. Speedsters at this level are capable of going 200mph. Emitters at this level are basically human mortars.

A-Rank Heroes: These are the celebrities. People know their names and cheer them from the rooftops. These are the heroes that are key players in handling high-level Kaiju attacks. Once you reach this rank, if you survive, you are guaranteed a high-ranking position in the nobility once you retire.

A-Rank powers: Powers at this point start getting absurd. Heroes can tank c4 explosives (But they will NOT be okay afterwards). Strength is 12x base (8000 lbs on average). Speedsters go at about 400mph. Emitters are capable of destroying buildings with their blasts.

S-Rank Heroes: Only a few heroes reach this rank. These heroes are the ones who handle Kaiju of extremely high ratings that even A-ranking heroes have difficulties handling. These heroes rarely get called to the field except to deal with city- or nation-ending threats.

S-Rank powers: Powers at this point are truly Divine. Heroes can tank blasts from Tanks and still look ready for a photo shoot. Strength is 22x base strength (15,000 lbs on average). Speedsters can break the sound barrier. Emitters are capable of unleashing blasts that can level city blocks.

Types of Titan abilities: Titans can have a mix of abilities. Some Titans only have one, others have multiple. Whether or not you have one or multiple does not determine the strength of those abilities. Most Titan abilities manifest naturally at puberty. If someone has not manifested Titan abilities by 14 years old, they will never manifest Titan abilities. Back in the old days before genetic testing, this led to heartbreak where Titans had to part from Mortal children. Now simple genetic testing is done in vitro to determine if the embryo is Titan or not.

Mutation: These include tails, extra limbs, fangs, and scales. Anything unnatural on the human body. Unlike other Titan abilities, these manifest as early as in the womb. Despite how drastic some mutations can be, the mutation will never harm the mother during pregnancy. Scales and claws will form after the baby is born. Extra limbs will not get tangled up. It does usually lead to emergency C-sections. These mutations usually manifest with natural enhanced strength, durability, and dexterity. But these enhancements are not considered ‘enhancer’ abilities, as they are natural aspects of the mutation.

Enhancer: The most common type of ability. Usually a Titan has at least one Enhancer ability. Some Enhancers can freely turn their enhancement on and off. Some are stuck having to tip toe around with enhanced strength all the time. Examples of Enhancers are, Strength, Durability, Speed. Regeneration is also a rare type of Enhancer ability. Anything that augments the body’s natural abilities is an Enhancer ability.

Emitter: The second most common type of ability. These Titans have the ability to Emit an energy source from their body. These Titans often run out of energy the fastest in a fight, but can also dish out the most damage in a fight.

Manipulator: The third most common type of ability. Manipulators can manipulate objects and energy outside their own body. Generally, most Manipulators tend to be emitters. Note: Telekinetic Manipulators cannot manipulate living creatures. They can: Manipulate the items a living creature is wearing. But not the living creature itself. There is a type of Manipulator that can manipulate living creatures.

Augmenters: The least common type of ability. Augmenters can augment objects and other people’s capabilities. This includes boosting other people’s healing, increasing an object’s durability, and other near-miraculous abilities. Augmentors are almost always considered at least B-rank heroes just due to rarity and utility alone.

Kaiju: Kaiju are monsters that come in a variety of forms. The weakest Kaiju is equivalent in strength to a single C-Rank Hero. As such, Titans of D-Rank and below are not deployed to deal with Titan threats. Kaiju are rated on a scale similar to that used to measure Earthquakes. As such anything over a six has a possibility of destroying a city. The highest recorded Kaiju was an 8.5 on the scale and nearly destroyed half the coast that it appeared on and killed all the highest rank heroes that fought it before it was finally taken down. This was in 1975 in China. It was a global catastrophe, and heroes from all over the globe fought this Kaiju, not just Chinese heroes.
