Detective Shikanoin Heizou, the man with the best case-solving streak in the nation as of yet, could be considered a genius. Whether this consideration is widely-accepted or not isn’t his priority. He’s hardly devoid of ego- he’s only human, after all- he doesn’t pay much attention to his image. After all, while everything can be taken at face value, life would be dreadfully monotonous if one were to never peer deeper.

The detective is far more concerned with finding the truths hidden behind facade than he is about complaints against the methods he uses to achieve that goal. It’s only that not everything needs to be examined and worked for tirelessly, leading to days that can be... less than satisfactory.
